Welcoming canine walk companions!
Pet care experience
I'm a retired lawyer; I spend winters in warmer climates but I'm generally in Bellingham June through September. I no longer have dogs of my own so I welcome walk and hike companions in the neighborhoods and on the trails around Bellingham. I'll gladly take your hound out to wooded trails! I had Labradors for 16 years, other smaller dogs before that, and more recently have hiked with a German Shepherd, a cockapoo, another Shepherd, an Aussie Cattle Dog, but alas... my go-to Bluetick hiking companion in B'ham is usually away boating for much of the summer. The good news? I can take YOUR dogs out for exercise and sniffing around to their hearts' content. 😀
Reviews
Michael C. Is the best dog sitter I have ever had. He is great . Bonded with my dog, Biz, immediately. I was gone for five days and everyday I got a picture on my phone of all the adventures they had. Michael was great for my pup as he has lots of energy and Michael took him on an adventure long walk every day. He also sent me messages of what he and Biz had done besides long walks . They played in the park and one day went to the off leash park and beach. I think there may also have been a trip to the hills. If I ever need another sitter for Biz it will be the one I call.
Michael and our pup NicoBear are great friends. Nico gets extremely excited and spins in circles whenever Michael shows up- he knows they are going swimming, or to a park to play fetch, or on some other fun adventure. He has taken care of Nico for hours at a time, but he has also housesat with Nico for overnights and while we went on a two-week vacation. Michael truly loves dogs and it shows in how he cares for them as if they were his own. He is reliable, a great communicator, and an excellent dog portrait photographer!
Mike has regularly cared for Dudley, my Doodle, over the last 5 years. We travel fairly often and have had Mike's support for long days away from home as well as during trips (as long as 3 weeks). Dudley is super active and gets anxious and stir crazy if he's inside too long. Mike goes above and beyond to have a great day with Dudley. They are always exploring new areas and going on adventures. Dudley loves him! He's always thrilled to see him and sad to see him go. Mike is punctual and easy to communicate with. Definitely recommend!
MC took care of our dog, Olive so we could take a vacation in Hawaii. He treated Olive as if she were his. Took her down to the beach and let her play and also took and sent us pictures of our happy dog. We can’t recommend him enough. If Olive spoke English she would say the same 🐶

I'm generally in the area of Squalicum Harbor to Fairhaven. If you need in-home pet/housesitting, let me know well in advance for the Blaine-to-Anacortes and Whidbey Island areas or San Juans.
Information Michael C. would like to know about your pet
If your dog has any special preferences, let me know: a brisk walk? A slow pace to explore every new smell? Uphill climbs? Flat and easy trails? Swimming? How does your dog interact with other dogs in public? What about squirrels or rabbits or other wildlife? My preference is to let your dog make the choices about the pace and when and where to linger. Does your dog pull on the leash? If so, I strongly recommend using a Gentle Leader.
A typical day
I'll gladly walk your dog around your own neighborhood or, in the alternative, provide transportation to one of the scores of wooded trails around Bellingham...or the waterfront...or a favorite park.
