My parents introduced me to dogs later in life. I had begged growing up for a dog. While in college I was replaced by a fun loving Jack Russell/Dachshund mix named Puppy! A year later they found Hoover, an assumed puppy mill mini Dachshund that needed to learn to be a dog and what love is---as well as getting rid of his heart worms. Training confidence into that dog was hard! But I did it. 2 years later we adopted Woof/Woofers he was a "senior" sausage (He had recently lost his human, and was literally a stuffed sausage! He was a lover not a fighter of a Standard Dachshund)! My dad an I walked him 2-3 times a day at a fast pace and watched his food intake, he lost his weight in 3 months time! His back legs no longer wobbled! We loved him! We recently lost him....10 years after we adopted him! Now, I've started my own dog family. We, my fiance' and I, recently brought in our first puppy, Harold the wire hair Dachshund. He is my furbaby! He's almost 4 months!
