I love dog boarding!

Pet care experience

Growing up my family owned a welsh springer spaniel. He was one of my best friends. I felt the same excitement he did when I walked in our front door to his excited jumping. After 13 years, he passed away of old age. Since then I have wanted to get a dog of my own, but I’m waiting until I get my degree to take that step. In the meantime, my parents happily welcome my sweet doggy friends that I take care of through Rover (or word of mouth from family friends). I am constantly watching dogs when I come home for holiday/seasonal college breaks. This is a super fun side job for me; plus I get my dog fix in while I wait to graduate. I love all types of dogs, have experience with senior dogs, and will take more than one pet from the same home (whether they be cats, dogs, hamsters, fish, etc.). If your dog is nervous coming into a new home, I will make sure to give them the care, attention, and space that they need. I always give frequent potty breaks, feed them at their regular time, and am very careful around doorways (so no one runs off on any solo adventures!). Some owners like to come into my house to see where their dog will be staying and introduce their dog to the new scenery together. Other owners like me to pick up / drop off their dog so the boarding process is more convenient and you never have to leave your home (I can easily add that to your booking). Whichever process you prefer works for me! I send great picture updates, so hopefully you won’t miss your dog too much. You will undoubtedly love how passionate I am about keeping your pet in a safe, loving environment while you are away. COVID Precautions - I will always wear a mask during pick up, drop off, drop ins, and walks - I will disinfect bowls, leashes, collars, beds, toys, etc. before returning them to you - For pickup / drop off there are many options to mitigate contact, depending on your preferences: o I am not personally concerned about having conversation with you in person, but if you would prefer that we not speak when we are face to face to be extra careful about taking COVID precautions I can easily accommodate that o For boarding or day care, I typically invite owners into my house so they can see where their dog(s) will be staying. I would love for you to come inside and see the house, but if you would rather not due to any personal concerns regarding COVID that is not an issue for me either! I can meet you outside, carry their things inside (toys, beds, bowls, etc.), take their leash, and you can be on your way! If you prefer even less contact we can discuss further options together (I have a few ideas, and maybe you do too).

Our experience with Mia was absolutely wonderful! She boarded my dog, Cora, at her house for a long weekend. Before the stay, Mia made sure we were able to meet up so I could ask any questions and feel as comfortable as possible. She asked many questions to understand Cora and my specific needs so that everything would be covered prior to the stay. She was even able to pick her up from my house which was very convenient for me. Cora took to Mia right away! She is incredibly hyperactive and Mia kept her active the whole weekend taking her on walks, hanging out with the family. She kept me updated the entire time and sent many pictures which were fun to see. Cora is fear reactive and so I was concerned she might be too much to handle, however there were absolutely no issues. She was very patient and understanding. I highly recommend Mia for anyone looking for care for their pets!

Add to my previous statement that I think is important to note* My dog has separation anxiety and fear aggression, and Mia was very patient and took the time to allow my dog to warm up to her and now they are best friends. This was a huge step for our dog!

I had Mia stop by to let out and play with my Australian Cattle Dog, and she did great! He was so happy when I got home, and I felt very comfortable letting her into my home. She sent me updates on how he was doing, and she was very nice. I would recommend her if you are looking for someone to stop by and take your dog out or if you need her to care for them while out of town.

Information Mia M. would like to know about your pet

I do not have breed preferences. Each pet has its own beautiful personality and special traits/habits. I like to meet up before boarding so you know your dog is in good hands. I’m available to answer any questions over text, but personable meetings are a great way to familiarize myself with your furry family member. List of questions I ask include: • Does your dog know any commands? • Any health issues/medications they take? • What’s their usual wake up/feeding time? • Where does your dog usually sleep? • Do they have a bathroom/exercise routine? • Do they have any quirks/protective instincts? • Is your pet crate trained? • Has your pet interacted ever interacted with a cat? (If not, that’s totally okay. The house is very big. My cat Olive will happily stay on the upper level. The dogs will stay on the lower level (there are pictures on my profile of every room on the lower level that your dog can roam free in at all times). The cat has been around dogs and mostly just does her own thing when they are around. Packing checklist for your dog’s stay: leash, collar, food, bowls; if applicable treats, toys, crate, bed

A typical day

Caring for dogs gives me drive in my daily life. My family is very friendly, and your dog will fall in love with each member. My dad is always excited to have a furry friend to go on runs with and my mom finds relaxation time petting animals on our couch. I thoroughly enjoy all of the above, including playing fetch/tug of war, going on long walks, giving baths, brushing, and having them jump up on my bed at night. There are tons of parks/preserves that we frequently visit as a family for long walks too. Make sure to send your pets with their favorite toys as we will make good use of them.
