Pet care experience
I grew up in a home with a large chocolate lab, so I am comfortable with dogs of many sizes. I've also always loved cats and petsit as much as I could growing up since I couldn't have one at home (mom was allergic!). I've had a beagle mix pup & tabby cat at home now for about 10 years and have experienced all the highs and lows that accompany pet companionship. Once I have established trust with a pet, I am comfortable giving pills and working on small basic training skills, and hope to add more complex skills to my arsenal as I spend more time working with your wonderful fur-friends!

For years, Meryl has cared for Cocoa, our chocolate lab, when we have gone away on longer trips. She is so kind and playful with him, he just LOVES her! She's very attentive to his special needs; because he has severe allergies, she monitors his diet carefully and gives him his medications (yes, she can shove a pill down our big dog's throat!). Meryl can also be stern when necessary telling Cocoa to "Come" or "Drop it!" or whatever. We thoroughly trust Meryl and recommend her 100%!
Meryl is a natural with all animals, including dogs with a variety of types of personalities and sizes. I've trusted her with my dog many times. She's got great attention to detail and your dogs will be in the most capable hands!
Meryl is conscientious and intuitive with animals. She's great at anticipating their needs, whether it's helping an older dog up the stairs or giving ear meds to a kitty, and she does so with gentle, loving care. She'll make sure your pet is cared for in every way you need...and likely will throw in a little extra love and pets for good measure.

A typical day
I like to work with dogs where they're most comfortable initially. If you have any usual parks or neighborhood walks, I'll start there. I'm more than happy to throw a ball (in your fenced back yard) endlessly for any pup that loves to retrieve, and I also love a good game of tug of war! I'll also wrap up with 5 or so minutes of quiet down/snuggle time to make sure your doggo is in a calm state when it's time for me to leave. **Please note** I do not/will not take dogs to dog parks for any unleashed time.

Availability
I was overjoyed to be able to step away from the 9-5 desk job routine this summer! This means I have a ton of flexibility to work with your pets, on *your* schedule, I have my own transportation, and continue to take mask-wearing seriously so I can protect my health and my reliablity!
