Dogs are too good for this world. We all know it's true. Whether they be big and shy, short and hyper, or anything in between all dogs have their own special personality traits and quirks. I know all dogs are not super comfortable with strangers right away but a little patience and trust goes a long way. From my Spanish host family's timid mastiff who was afraid of his own shadow to a coworkers dog who only has eyes for his mom, I grow on them evetually with frienly head pats and calm but affectionate gestures. I am the proud "owner" of a Beenese Mountain Dog though college has forced us apart she always greets me with an enthusiastically wagging tail and a lick on the face. Of all the comforts of home I miss her the most and I savor every moment I have with the dogs of friends. Every dog may "have his day" but they all have the power to make mine. :-) I am a graduate student so I occasionally have odd hours, but usually its just like any other 9-5 with weekends free to hang out with pups. I have a fenced in dog yard and crate at my apartment and am pretty well-versed in dog behavior after years of walking, sitting, and fostering.
