A fun, active, attentive pet lover!

Pet care experience

Hey there! My name is Meredith, and I recently graduated from DePaul University in Chicago, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Screenwriting. I absolutely love ALL animals and have cared for many kinds through the years (hamsters, guinea pigs, bunnies, birds, cats, etc.), but I especially love dogs. I finally got my own dog—an energetic fluffy golden doodle named Toby—5 years ago. He’s my best friend and I spoilllll him. He gets a new ball, a cookie, and a bag of treats after EVERY bath! I am outgoing, hard working, friendly, and compassionate, and would love to walk your dog, or drop by to feed or play with your dog whenever needed. I am here to make your life easier! I am also equipped to handle even the most high strung, crazy dogs out there. My dog tends to get wild and excited over most things, and could probably run 20 miles a day. Luckily, I’m strong, athletic, and I love to exercise, so my crazy Toby is pretty easy to care for. I walk him 3-5 miles a day! For fun, I also bike, play tennis, and love pilates too. I also have experience taking care of shy dogs who can be frightened or stressed easily. I always treat these dogs with extra love, care, and gentleness, and make sure to earn their trust first and foremost. I also have experience with dogs who don’t get along as well with other dogs or people. In these cases, I usually walk down paths that have no dogs or people, and I keep them close by my side in the event that dogs or people walk by. Whatever personality your pup has, I’ve probably handled it before many times, and successfully at that! I love and respect all animals equally, and always tailor my care to each individual pup :)

Meredith was amazing! She was thorough in preparing to walk my dog. She had great communication, great summary, pictures and was very enjoyable to work with and ensure my dog was happy and safe. I would absolutely ask her to walk/watch my dog again!

I hired Meredith to babysit my adult dog and my new very young puppy while I attended a business trip across the country. Finding someone who could care for my 12-week old Doberman in my own home for 8-hours a day seemed like an impossible task, at first. I was delighted to find her as Meredith was the ideal person for the job. She is smart, well mannered, and intuitive with the dogs needs. She was patient with my puppy, and went above and beyond to create a good experience for my dogs. The puppy requires nearly constant attention and she did a wonderful job. She sent photos every few hours, and kept me updated with the puppies potty training and behaviors. Meredith was diligent with arrive on time and leaving at the previously agreed upon time. My adult dog is a 95-pound Doberman and Meredith was great with him! Moreover, Meredith is a hard working young woman who I trusted in my home unattended. I would recommend Meredith to anyone who wants a smart, hardworking, and trustworthy young woman to watch their dogs 10/10!

I take LOTS of photos (roughly 15-20) of the dogs I walk & visit, and send them to their parents (you!), so that you can see how much fun they’re having, and how adorable they are (in case you FORGOT). I am also very communicative around the clock, so that owners feel content and at ease. I send reminders before walks/visits, I stay in touch during the visit if needed, I send in-depth Rover Cards after the walk/visit, and I always respond to any questions, advice, changes in the schedule, etc., at any time. No matter the task—walking, feeding, playing, house-sitting, etc.—I am determined to make your puppers feel loved by giving them plenty of pets, kisses, nose-boops, and devoted attention. Feel free to shoot me a message whenever:) Thanks!

Information Meredith S. would like to know about your pet

I usually like to know how they get along with other dogs and humans on the street. This way I can either keep them close by my side, or let them greet other dogs and humans!

A typical day

For walking, I like to vary my walks! We might visit several parks, where I let them sniff around the grass, trees, and flowers, which is great for stimulating their brains. I may take them by the water and down various roads, sidewalks, etc. too. I want them to have a satisfying walk! As far as pacing goes, I will slowly walk them, let them relax, then jog a little bit, and even sprint sometimes—just to switch it up and get their heart rates up, if they can handle it! For drop-in visits, I like to vary activities as well, for the best, most satisfying visit. I usually take the dog(s) outside right away, to go potty. We may then play fetch, run around, and I’ll let them wander off and sniff things, etc. Then, I will usually take them inside to eat, and I’ll fill up their water bowl with fresh water. I may then snuggle up with them on the couch, and give them some pets & kisses. Maybe I’ll get a toy or two out as well. Then, I’ll take them outside again for some more fun and fresh air, and then repeat this process a couple more times before leaving. I like to be intuitive, and follow the dog’s wants & needs. If they are having a ton of fun outside, the weather is nice, and they’re really getting their wiggles out, I may stay outside for most of the visit. For house-sitting, I make sure each pet is let out many times throughout the day to play, enjoy the fresh air, and to go potty of course. I sometimes walk them as well, depending on the owner’s needs. I also make sure to give them plenty of attention inside, as if they were my own dog at my own house! Of course, I feed them as well, give them some occasional treats, give them their medication (if they have any), and make sure to let them go potty late at night and early in the morning.

While I hunt for jobs in the competitive film & television industry and try to figure out my path, I am living at home and working at Starbucks to save some money. I only work at Starbucks 2-3 days per week, evenings only (i.e., 2:00-9:00pm, 5:00-9:00pm, etc.) Luckily, my boss is very flexible and knows I have a Rover business, so I am flexible and accommodating as well. I also accept last minute bookings, for when life doesn’t go quite as planned! I would love to carve out time to take care of your pooch whenever needed :)
