I live in an apartment complex with a dog park. The dog park is fenced. They are plenty of nearby dog parks within walking distance or a very short drive. My roommate has one small dog who is dog friendly and people friendly. He often goes on doggy play dates. My roommate is a huge dog lover just like me.
