Hiii! I’m Melody! I’ve been watching people’s dogs for years. I used to do house visits but now I have free time so I would like to go full time on all services gradually. I am living the dream of caring for peoples lovely dogs and cats. Pet care is my entire life! Between my wonderful job and my own lovely dog Ace,I’m always surrounded by furry friends. As of now to fairly allot time and work proper adjustments in for my dog, I am not at the moment boarding at my home, but all other services I can do. For drop in visits, I like to start by slowly coming in and meeting your beloved Fido, then give them a treat to distract them while I check for accidents, the water bowl, and food if necessary. Anything the parents request ( cuddles, play time, walks) i can do. For walks I try to stay within the neighborhood, as I live very close to Patterson park where they have a lovely critter pond and several dog parks. While I do not allow mingling with random dogs on walks, genuinely innocent play with a new friend is allowed to continue for a short time, as to encourage good social skills. I usually bend that rule for puppies and super social breeds, such as goldens, pit bulls, or doodles. I can also walk extremely aggressive dogs, but I will only dealt large breeds at night, and they must not only be capable of listening to me but wearing a muzzle also( as a rule of thumb, I’m very good with dogs but I’m not a superhero. If you know your dog won’t listen to me, it’s best to see a trainer before booking a service with me). I do in fact carry protection in the form of dog mace and a loose lead for multi purposes, for loose dogs of course!

Disappointed to say the least! Melody has turned out to be unprofessional and untrustworthy. I booked 2 visits with her (1:30pm and 6:30pm) to drop in on my pup. Over 2hrs later and only after I messaged her, she responds and indicates she had to take a Covid test at the last minute. I understand emergencies come up, but a Covid test caused you to be over 3hrs late to check in on my dog? Sure… And for some reason you couldn’t send a quick message to let me know? I felt she was trying to play in my face with that excuse - just disrespectful. In addition to this, after she arrives after 4pm, she randomly decides to STAY in my house until 7pm. That was inappropriate considering this is not the service that was requested. Unfortunately this is also not the first time Melody didn’t show up for hours with no communication and based on several past reviews about her being caught lying to clients, she has a history of doing this. Recently this summer, my dog was left in her crate for a very long time even though I booked Melody to come house sit. When I messaged her to ask when she was coming, she indicated she didn’t think I was traveling that early. What? I booked for a specific time frame for her to come watch my pup - not for her to show up whenever she felt like it, especially without prior notice. In short, I don’t recommend Melody.
Melody is great! I always trust her with my fur babies and she takes great care of my house while she’s there. I’ll continue to book with her!
I wanted this to work out long term since Melody lives in my area, but based on our first experience I will not be booking her again. We booked her to hang with our dog in our home while we were gone for the day and after she was already 10 minutes late, I messaged her to see where she was. She replied another 10 minutes later to say she was running late and would be there “soon”. When I asked for a specific ETA, it was a full hour after our agreed upon start time. In addition to delaying our own departure and plans (of which other people were depending on our arrival at a certain time), her communication around this was disappointing. She could have let me know well in advance that she would be an hour late but waited until I messaged her first after she was already late and she was not upfront about it. She was fine with our dog while we were gone and sent me plenty of photos which I appreciated, but the lack of dependability or advance notice was not okay.
