Pet care experience
After years watching friends pets as a labor of love, a few months of animal care at a sanctuary ushered me into the professional realm.

Melissa has watched my cat Dusty several times now and has always done an excellent job. My cat is not a very social but is especially so (and comfortable/calm) when Melissa watches her, which is not the norm. Melissa is friendly, easy-going, and always attentive, respectful, and responsible. If I had a dog I’d let her watch it too in a heartbeat!
I am so grateful to have found Mel as a house and dog sitter! She is super communicative, caring, and always leaves my home in better shape than when I left it. I fully trust that my pup Nellie is in great hands when I leave her in Mel's care.
Melissa recently cared for our two beloved cats (a 6-year old bengal and a 2-year old turkish angora mix) while we were away on a week-long vacation. Melissa took good care of both our cats (one of whom is very afraid of strangers and requires daily medication in her food) as well as of our house. We felt at ease leaving them in her care and plan to use her services when we travel again. We highly recommend her!

I really value knowing how the animal is with other animals, knowing what makes them feel comfortable and secure is important to me. It also helps to know if there are special words or actions, toys, or treats that can bring their attention back to me if we encounter a distraction (like a type of car they are scared of or running squirrel). Knowing their daily health needs, including medications or history of injuries is important too. I also like to know the fun stuff! What do they love to do and how can I best keep them stimulated and happy?
A typical day
I'm a huge fan of hikes up the mountains or flatter desert land, I make sure there are snacks and water available for the pets and check in about other dog run-in's. If possible I really love to get them outside for some exercise. If we have a more relaxed day, play and affection are priorities.
