Pet care experience
Hi, we are Shawn and Mel and we LOVE dogs! We have been dog owners all our lives and frequently watch friends and family members' dogs as well! At every social gathering we have there are typically 3 to 4 dogs running around our yard as our friends and family know that their dogs are always welcome here! We have a 13-year-old son named Cohen who loves to get the dogs running and playing and often joins me on our outdoor adventures. We do not have any young children or cats. Your dog must be housebroken (i.e., only potties outside, no pee pads) and up-to-date with his/her vaccinations (proof at Meet and Greet or an upload to Rover app is required.)

Leeloo was sooooo well taken care of. She was playing and eating. She struggles a lot when we are gone, and she didn’t for the first time. Melissa and Shawn welcomed Leeloo like their own into their home, and like one of their own pets! Thank-you so much for loving her so hard, while we were away, we are so thankful!
My energetic and very affectionate border collie was very well cared for by Melissa and Sean. He was able to live in the house with them and their friendly dog Charley, go for the walks and adventures he loves and play with their son. I believe they did everything they could to make his stay a holiday. I was so glad he was never shut up in a small space. Melissa is an excellent communicator, they were flexible and have a genuine interest in what is good for dogs. I will have no trouble leaving Flash there again.
Melissa was amazing with my dogs for the 9 days. I got daily feedback and photos which helped my anxiety leaving them and they were so happy and well cared for with many snuggles, walks and playtime. Thank you Melissa and family for the love and care for my two girls! We will definitely book with you again!
We would recommend Melissa and Shawn in a heartbeat! Finley (our 2 year old lab) stayed 11 nights with them and he is one tired pup. We were sent photos, videos and updates throughout our vacation so we knew that he was in good hands and was very busy playing with Charlie (their dog), going for big walks and doing enrichment activities. We felt comfortable leaving Finley with them from our first meeting and had an extra sense of security knowing they also use iTag - just in case. We will definitely use their services again and feel so lucky to have found them!

We provide each dog with a slip-on air tag collar when they stay with us. For overnight stays, we provide separate eating and sleeping areas for each dog. You will receive regular updates from me as well as photos of your precious pup. Your dog will be closely supervised. There are no cages or crates and dogs have the run of portions of my home, as well as a fully fenced-in yard, weather permitting. If you like your dog sleeping in a crate at night, you are welcome to bring it along. Your doggo will have a blast staying at my cozy home, going for long walks, and having my own playful Black Lab mix as a companion. We also have a doggie sprinkler play mat and doggie pool for the hot days. There are plenty of toys and chews on hand at all times. I believe in using only positive techniques in the care of your dog. My mission is to provide outstanding care, service, and safety for your pet. The last thing you need is to worry about your dog's happiness and safety during your vacation.

We are able to care for many different types of dogs with different needs. We are a very loving and accepting home and would love to know how best to care for your beloved pet. Let us know of any allergies, special routines, where your dog sleeps at night, and if your dog has any behavioral issues or separation anxiety
A typical day
We DON'T just Stay at Home! We go on ADVENTURES!! We are often out in the bush with our dogs, on and off-leash. We typically spend an hour in the bush near our house (Stokes Pit area). We live near a large dog park (for those that are comfortable). We also enjoy going to Whiterock Beach and the Derby Reach dog park for those who are swimmers! I have a mid-sized vehicle that is set up perfectly for dogs (seatbelts and harnesses available ) and we are typically out on adventures for at least an hour each day. In addition to this I do lots of enrichment activities; snuffle mats, lick mats, slow feeders and positive reinforcement is a priority!

Availability
Both my partner(Shawn) and I work from home so one or both of us is always here. My schedule is extremely flexible. I am currently taking a Canine Specialist Program and studying force-free and positive reinforcement methods of training. I have completed the Canine First Aid and CPR course through Courage K9 First Aid.
