Pet care experience
I’ve had pets of my own and cared for the pets of friends since I was 8 years old (many many years ago 😄). I am very familiar with dogs and cats, and have had experience with and am comfortable with other house pets, reptiles, and birds. I love to snuggle, play, and spoil your pets like I do my own. I currently have a large Plott Hound mix (85 pounds), and have had a Shepherd/Pit mix, Cocker Spaniels, and Akitas. I am very comfortable with and absolutely adore big dogs. I have taken my own puppies to training classes and am well versed in puppy care. I do run a state licensed in-home daycare, so by law I am fingerprinted and a full background check is run on me and my entire household every three years (these were just updated March 2022).

Melissa and her mom were the best dog sitters we could have ever asked for! They were both so patient with our rambunctious crew and the pictures that they sent of the dogs while we were gone only showed lots of smiles and hugs! They communicated well and made sure to follow the few instructions we left for them. Our home was kept clean and dogs were very well taken care of! We will definitely use them both again - we could not recommend a better two people to watch our dogs!!!!
Melissa was amazing with my 2 boys. She handled everything so well. My kids love her, and she will be their forever sitter! 10/10 recommend!

I prefer to care for your pets at your home where they are comfortable and will experience less stress with minimal changes to their routine. I am experienced with administering medications if needed. My goal is to keep your pets as happy as possible while keeping to their regular routine as closely as possible. I do have a large fully fenced (6 foot wooden) back yard in case of any emergency or situation where I would need to bring your pets to my house.

A typical day
First and foremost are snuggles and belly rubs! I like to base our activities on what your pet is used to - I like to go for walks in the neighborhood if possible, (Halyburton park is close to my house if we need a different place to walk), I love taking dogs to the beach as well if they are up for a car ride. At home we play lots of games, I have played ball with my Cocker for 90 minutes straight (that ball was so full of slobber by the end and my arm was sore lol), I also like to practice commands with my hound (refreshers are always good) and go for walks with him wearing his backpack - he loves feeling like he is accomplishing a job. I’m open to new experiences if your pet has a favorite activity as well.

Availability
I run my own in-home daycare on weekdays. I am available for early morning visits/care/walks, afternoon potty breaks, and evening care (after 5:30 pm). I have total availability on weekends. I am available for overnight care on any day of the week.
