I'm a Veterinary Technician/Nurse

Pet care experience

Note:*Due to Family allergies I am only accepted low shedding or hypoallergenic breeds at this time-Please reach out if your pet meets this criteria. Thanks for understanding* I have loved animals/especially dogs since I was a young girl. I was raised with pets my whole life and have always wanted to make a difference in their lives. As I got older, I realized that I could take my love for animals into a career, so I decided to become a veterinary technician. I have experience working with geriatric dogs and cats. As a technician, I have training in veterinary emergency medical care, medication administration/giving injections/ fluids, nail trims, anal gland expression, nutritional needs, etc. I love what I do and put my whole heart and soul into it. I would be honored to care for your beloved pet and treat him/her as part of the family. I am currently available most days of the week to either watch your dog/dogs at my own home for the day or while you are on vacation. I am also available to come to your home for drop in visits-administration of medications/fluids, nail trims/anal gland expressions, checking on your pet while you are a work or away, feeding/nutritional care, etc. I recently lost my beloved toy poodle Sandy who was 20yrs old. I cared for her by giving thyroids meds, providing nutritional care, and handling her seizures. I am currently caring for my brother's dog that has an eye condition and needs eye medications administered. I helped raise puppies and care for the mother who were all abandoned in the back of a pickup truck along side the road. I am well experienced with different medical conditions and am sure I can cater to your individual pet's needs.

Melissa was wonderful with my old, special needs terrier. She went over and above to be sure his needs were met and that he was happy while he was with her. I was very happy to have him in a home instead of a kennel.

Melissa was awesome with our 6-month-old puppy over Thanksgiving weekend. She was available on short notice and always responded quickly. She sent us updates every day. She and her dogs were easy to get along with. She seems like a responsible dog owner and we definitely felt at ease leaving him there. Hope to book her again when the time comes.

Melissa was great with my dog who recently is recovering from back surgery. She was professional, competent and compassionate. She is reliable and sent me updates and pics of her visit. I wouldn’t hesitate to hire her again to take care of my fur baby.

Information Melissa P. would like to know about your pet

I prefer to house sit smaller dog breeds in my own home because of my own dogs' safety. Also, I am only accepting low shedding/hypoallergenic breeds at this time, because of family allergies.

A typical day

When I care for your pet, we will take walks by the beach, swim and boat on the lake (if your pet enjoys the water), run in a field by my house. Your pet will receive plenty of attention, throwing the toy/ball, or anything that your pet specifically loves to do.
