Experienced, Loving Pet Care🐾
Pet care experience
Greetings! My name is Melissa: human, dog and cat mom, wife to a Deaf man, and prior 6th grade English teacher. My husband, three children (ages 20, 18, 15), and I have lived in Simpsonville, SC for 23 years: it’s definitely home sweet home! We have five dogs, two outdoor cats, three indoor cats, and a Leopard Gecko. Yes, we all *LOVE* animals! Pets are an integral part of our lives: always have been, always will be! Years back, during my BC (Before Children) era, I was an intake coordinator and foster parent for Foothills Golden Retriever Rescue. Hard to put into words the pure joy in being a part of the rescue world. I have since worked with the Greenville Humane Society in education outreach, and when in the field of education, was involved with Foothills Search & Rescue (am now a volunteer in their wonderful nonprofit) and SLED’s (South Carolina Law Enforcement Division) K-9 unit: brought both in, simultaneously and multiple times, to the school I taught at, to conduct an animal intelligence demo for the school student body. In addition, I have a wide-range of experience working with special needs dogs and cats in a variety of capacities: administration of meds (oral and injected), obedience training (currently training a 4-month-old German Shepherd Dog, and 6 month old Golden Retriever), as well as more than two decades with fosters and rescues. In addition, among the hundreds of dogs and cats I’ve owned, fostered, adopted, and worked with over the years, a number have had physical impairments: a 3-legged Dachshund, blind pug, and deaf Shih Tzu, to name a but a few. I offer loving, dependable, and responsible care for your pet(s). Our pets, like yours, are a part of our family. Subsequently, I make it a priority to ensure their well-being when we are away. I offer the same peace of mind for you and yours: including care customized to yours and your pet’s(s) specific needs. Looking forward to connecting with you and your fur family! *FOR THOSE WITH LARGE FUR FAMILIES: no charge for the fourth pet! * FOR THOSE WITH ‘OTHER’ PETS: I have experience in providing care for pet rabbits, birds, fish, turtles, and snakes, as well as an assortment of livestock (including pigs, chickens, and horses). Fees vary, just mention it in your booking request.
Reviews
We have used Melissa multiple times now to care for our Winnie cat when we’re away. She is always so caring with Winnie, sends great pics and gives us thorough daily reports. Winnie and Melissa have become great friends. I highly recommend Melissa to care for your pet(s). You’ll be as pleased as we always are. 😊
Melissa has taken care of our two cats at least 3 different times now. We appreciate her reliability, care, and attention to detail. I can always tell in the pictures she sends that both cats absolutely love her.
As always Melissa did a wonderful job caring for our precious cat! I highly recommend Melissa! She is thoughtful, caring, and professional.
Melissa is the best! She took great care of my elderly kitty and always provided timely updates. She is truly a caring person and we feel blessed to know and trust her with our fur granny!

Care I provide my client’s pet(s) is individually-based. Having a large, diverse fur family myself, I understand that circumstances and expectations vary from person-to-person. Therefore, I customize ‘care’ according to the client’s specific needs. It is their direction that guides the care that I provide: “care” that is always grounded in love, dependability, and responsibility.

Information Melissa P. would like to know about your pet
Please let me know if your pet has any special needs: behavior, medical, etc. I have a wide-range of experience in working with both dogs and cats in a variety of capacities: administration of meds (oral and injected), obedience training, and more than two decades with fosters and rescues. I also have experience with special needs dogs and cats: have fostered a blind pug and a Golden Retriever with small animal aggression, and cared for many elderly dogs and cats that are hard-of-hearing or deaf, and a number that are diabetic.

Activities I provide my client’s pets is individually-based. It is their direction that guides the care that I provide. For example, the exercise and games that a puppy needs will be drastically different from those of a senior dog. I also recognize that “needs” can be specific to: -breeds -temperament -history -rescues -medical conditions Cats also have distinctive needs, many times different from one another- and oftentimes depending on their individual character. Therefore, what the pet check in/walk/house sitting/boarding looks like, will vary, depending on the client and pet(s) needs.
