Pet care experience

I’ve always had pets in my life! I currently have 3 cats that I love with all my heart. Two of my cats are “special needs” and require medication or other supports, so I am very familiar and comfortable with the administration of medication and observation of ongoing symptoms in both felines and canines. I have some limited experience (less than 2 years) of caring for other pets, like aquatic turtles, blue tongued skinks, breaded dragons, etc. nothing is too much of a challenge and I am excited to visit your furry family member (:

I’ve seen birds land on Melissa’s finger. She’s pet a wild deer. She’s kept everything from snakes to cats to tarantulas and loves them all the same. Her own three boy cats adore her, and she is the legal godparent of my pets. If you’re looking for a top of the line pet sitter, look no further than Melissa.

Melissa is one of the most trustworthy individuals you could ever let take care of your pet! She was absolutely wonderful when taking care of my cat, Bao! Melissa also has plenty of experience with her own pets as well! You can tell how loved her cats truly are! If you are looking for anyone to provide good quality care to your pets—especially cats!—Melissa is by far the best candidate!

I've known Melissa for almost a decade, and she has been one of the most responsible pet owners I know. Her passion for cats was fostered by her parents, who had one or two cats at a time throughout Melissa's formative years. She also has experience with a variety of reptiles and fish, having worked as an animal husbandry work study student during her undergraduate years. Her past and current pets include cats, snakes, frogs, and tarantulas, highlighting her ability to care for a variety of animals. I have trusted Melissa to watch my cats over the years, and she has always come through. The cats are appropriately fed, she always checks that fresh water is available to any pets in the home, and she also provides play time for my cats each time she stops by. I felt comfortable and safe leaving my cats in her tender care, and I'm confident she would make a great pet sitter for any animal.

I have had Melissa pet sit for me many times. She is my go-to person for pet sitting. She is caring and conscientious. She spends quality time with your pets and checks their wellbeing and the surrounding area for any issues as soon as she arrives. I trust her absolutely in my home. I give her the highest recommendation as she is a top-notch sitter. You can't go wrong with Melissa!

When I come to visit/walk your furry family member, my standard plan is as follows, but is always open to change based on the needs/desires of the client and fur baby. 1.) if applicable, on my way into the home I will collect any newspapers, mail, or delivered packages and bring them safely inside the home. 2.) I will greet all pets that want to be greeted, before introducing myself for a thorough sniff test. 3.) following the sniff test, I will check if any accidents occurred, clean them up, and notify the pet parent 4.) if applicable your pets and I will leash up and take a walk around the house/backyard/neighborhood, whatever is preferable to the client (: 5.) I will clean up and dispose of any mess made on our walk, wipe off feets, and remove/return leash if applicable 6.) fill up water bowls and set out a snack or treat (if applicable of course) 7.) finish up with some pets and play time

Information Melissa K. would like to know about your pet

Ahead of time, I would like to know what your pet enjoys or does not enjoy, treats, toys, particular scratches or pets, certain walk routes, etc. as with humans, I feel like there’s a “getting to know each other” stage in pet care, anxieties from the pet can be lessened with comforting toys, treats, etc, so this knowledge will help me build the best possible relationship with your fur baby for a relaxing and enjoyable experience for everyone (:

A typical day

Depending on the energy level of the pet in questions, we could play with toys in the home, I can bring some additional toys for enrichment, cuddling and pets are always a fan favorite, and I have some pet-puzzles on hand for mental enrichment that could be used after I discussed with the human in charge of course.
