Pet care experience
I am a retired female Police Officer who has spent most of my career saving animals. I currently have 4 senior dogs in my home, 2 of them were rescued at 15 years of age. I am familiar in caring for pets with special needs as I have 3 blind and deaf poodles of my own. I also volunteer at the worlds largest dog farm in Costa Rica, known at Terretorio De Zaguates ( Land of The Strays) 3 times per year. After my retirement as a Deputy Sheriff, I put myself through a Dog Grooming School and now groom dogs in my home or my clients home upon request. I own a home here in Florida and also in Costa Rica which enables me to enjoy part of my year in the Rainforest. I live on a Sloth Sanctuary and have experience working with exotic animals. I also own a Blue and Gold Macaw who is now 18 years old. I am new to the Port St. Lucie area , but have my own car and a nice home with a large screened in swimming pool area. I enjoy taking dogs on long walks as I need the exercise myself. Everyone who knows me, has knowledge of my love for the animals and making sure they are properly cared for. I will not only be a great caretaker for your fur kids, I will become their friend.

Melissa is wonderful, from the moment I opened the door I felt completely confident. My dogs instantly took to her, my little one jumping in her arms as soon as she sat down on the floor to greet them. She was attentive to our many pets and was open to giving each one attention. While we were out of town she kept us posted not only on our pet but on the house as a whole. She reminded us that she was close by and if there was anything we needed she was there to help. Knowing she was in neighborhood and very close to our home was such a plus. We will definitely be using her serves in the future.
Melissa is compasionate and has a genuine love for all animals so it’s not unusual to see a stray or neglected animal gravitate to her. She has taken many animals in and cared for them until she found them good homes. She is the best mommy to her own dogs. She has taken care of animals since she was young and has worked with many types and sizes of dogs. She has a friendly disposition, is honest and very reliable. I would never think twice about her taking care of my fur babies.

A typical day
If your dog likes to swim, I have a nice size swimming pool with a 4 foot in length shallow pool step , normally used for putting lounge chairs in the shallow end, but my dogs have found this area to be a neat place to lay down and get cooled off after a long walk. I have a few parks in my neighborhood and I am within 2 miles of the Oxbow Hiking Trails that lead to the Port St. Lucie River. This is a great area to bring dogs for a day of fun. If you have a favorite dog park, I am more than willing to drive your pup to that location for some play time as well.
