Pet care experience
I have lived with dogs in my home my whole life. My family brought in a stray that showed up on our doorstep when I was 12, and he kicked off my passion for dogs. Since I was in my teens, I have assisted my parents when they have boarded their friends' dogs. I also grew up on a farm and am very comfortable around animals and understand the importance of reading their body language. Nine years ago, I adopted my dog, Athena, a Blue Heeler and Border Collie cross. She has been my faithful companion since then, and I prioritize taking her out for daily activities, whether that be a run, time at the park, or a walk around the neighborhood. We worked at an animal nutrition center from 2017-2018 where I increased my knowledge on farm animals, especially dogs. In the past few years, I have taken care of my brother's dog, a Catahoula, as he has worked remote jobs. I prioritized her activity time like I do Athena's, and I would love to do the same with your dog if that is what you would like in a sitter. Thanks for reading my profile! I look forward to chatting with you.

Melissa has helped me out tremendously with the care of my 3 dogs, one which can be a little aggressive. She is always quick to answer and send me info when I ask her re their care. She is a great to work with and very professional.
Melissa is absolutely wonderful! She was so great with our pup. I highly recommend her. She is very conscientious and thoughtful. We will definitely will ask her back!
Iv had numerous dogs over the last decade and Melisa has always been my go to for advice and knowledge on how to treat and care for them, weather is the was health questions, training, or just which food she would recommend Iv always trusted her opinion more than my local vets and have never been lead stray. Her relationship with her own dogs has always been a point proven. 10/10 would recommend.
Melissa is extremely knowledgeable about how to care for dogs. She has helped me when my dog had stomach issues. Melissa told what combination of food to feed my pup until her stomach felt better. Melissa truly cares about the health and wellbeing of dogs. She would go above and beyond caring for anyone’s pet.

I live in a house with a fenced yard and three roommates, one of them being my partner. My dog, Athena, is friendly with other dogs, especially older dogs. She loves to play fetch and we spend a lot of time hanging out in the yard together. Dogs are allowed on the couches in the home, but not on the beds. If your dog stayed here, it would stay in the living room overnight where it would have access to the couches, and I have space to set up their bed or a crate. Your dog and Athena will be fed in separate rooms to avoid any possible resource guarding problems that might arise. If I am sitting in your home, my dog will stay at my home and my partner will look after her. I can spend the night if you would like or drop by for visits throughout the day. For dog walking, my dog would stay at my house and I would devote my whole attention on the walk to your dog. I bring poop bags, water, and a water bowl for walks.

Information Melissa D. would like to know about your pet
If your dog has any special needs or accommodations that need to be met, I would be happy to provide that for them! If they need medications, for example, I have experience providing oral and injected medications to dogs. If there are special dietary needs, I have no problem with that either. My own dog is on a special raw diet and I am very particular about what she eats. I do not know dog CPR, but I do know and have used the heimlich maneuver for dogs.
A typical day
I will take dogs on walks and allow them to smell everything that is within reason, to allow for stimulation. If you are comfortable with it and the dog does well on leash (not a lot of pulling), I can also take the dog on runs and hikes with me. We will play fetch outside a few times a day if that is what the dog is into, or we can hang out in the yard just so that they can get some outside time. I am willing to meet the dogs at where they are at activity wise so that they don't get over or under exercised.
