Fur-babies are family, too!
Pet care experience
I have been blessed to grow up with a variety of animals in and around my home. I’ve had a variety of dogs that have ranged from 12lbs to 200lbs. I’ve also had cats in the home, as well. I have taken care of the basics of feeding them, giving clean water (daily), maintaining the litter box (as needed) and even giving insulin injections (to both felines and dogs). I’ve trained many of my larger breed dogs and my service dog. Bathing, feeding, walking and not just for my pets, but also friends & family.

Safety, trust & environment
I would not be bringing clients pets to my home, as it’s a spacious and fenced in yard; however, we have one dog who doesn’t play well with others. In a client’s home, unless asked by the owner, the only thing I would remove from the home (temporarily), would be the pet. I’m very cautious with another’s fur baby; so, I would treat it as my own with love, snuggles and a gentle touch. I’m always aware of my surroundings, especially with something so precious, to another. I’ve always been described as very trustworthy and compassionate, with people, as well as, with their animals.

Information Melissa D. would like to know about your pet
I feel it’s best to cover all the bases; which include, having the name of your animals, veterinary hospital on hand, should an emergency, arise, which facility you would like your animal taken to, whether or not your animal, is on any medication’s and lastly, if your dog has any allergies to food, environment, only the types that your dog must steer clear of to prevent anaphylactic shock. on a lighter note, I also think it’s important to know your dogs routine, their favorite places to go with you, whether or not, they play well with other animals, their favorite treats, and how frequently they may be given them. It would also benefit me to know if your animal is a destructive chewer, of toys, like my dog, or if they prefer a frisbee to a tennis ball, etc. I just want to ensure that your animal is properly and efficiently taken care of in your absence so you can have some peace of mind. I want to provide the best experience for your animal!
A typical day
I personally like to tailor the day to the individual pet(s). I do enjoy being downtown and walking the paths around the river. I have a number of more secluded areas (for pets that are better off, solo, or require a less distractive environment), so every dog can still be a dog and have a little freedom. The dogs & I really enjoy hitting the parks, checking out the “dog” parks, too and doing what you’re friend enjoys most. Is it tossing the frisbee around, playing catch with the tennis ball, lounging under a tree-as they can oversee the lay of the land or just loving a car ride.

I’m very flexible in my schedule and if I was needed to stay for extended periods of time, my animals would be taken care of. I’ve been on medical disability for 4 1/2yrs now. Other than my appointments I have throughout the week, my only other commitment is the upkeep of my home and taking care of my animals.
