Cat Lady Seeking Walking Buddy

Pet care experience

I hope to provide you with peace-of-mind as you venture out into the world knowing your pet's welling being is my top priority. Caring for our cats, Milo and Olivia, brings me so much joy. And I would be delighted to make your furry family members feel safe and loved as well. Chattanooga has a great variety of local dog-friendly parks and getting to enjoy the outdoors with a walking buddy is such a treat. Rover has allowed us to go away on trips worry-free and I hope I can offer your family the same experience. I will be sure to send pictures as our cat sitter did for us. It eased my mind and allowed me to enjoy my trip more than I ever had before. My First Pet Sitting Experience: My first pet sitting job was 12 years ago for an University of Pittsburgh professor before the days of Rover apps. She asked if I knew any pet sitters, I replied "I would be happy to care for your pets." I stayed at her house for 2 weeks while the family vacationed in France worry-free. I cared for 2 indoor/outdoor orange cats and a beautiful golden retriever who was so loving and snuggled with me every night. He was a big boy, but so gentle and loving. A Bit About Me: I hail from Philadelphia and I have slowly made my way down the East coast to Chattanooga, TN. We just moved to TN after living in Augusta, GA for the past 5 years. I am a former Maryland middle school teacher and I continue to substitute teach and cover long term leaves of absence for Hamilton County. I thought Rover would be a great opportunity to vary my days between subbing and pet sitting. I have a lot of flexibility. My Pet History: Growing up, I had a little curly haired bichon frise whose bark was much worse than her bite. Crystal, my very first pet, holds a special place in my heart for her loyalty and cuddly nature. I would like to acknowledge all the turtles, fish, hamsters, gerbils, and birds that my parents were nice enough to let into our home. So I am well versed in caring for all types of animals. As a high school student, (wow, that was in 2002) I worked in the small animal department so I have experience with macaws, reptiles and fish if that is a need. I worked there for 2 years and learned a lot about small animal care. My favorite reptile was a bearded dragon as they are such gentle creatures. We are currently adoring cat owners and we have enjoyed every moment of having them as companions. Our cats are 9 years old, so middle aged and sleep an awful lot. We have had our litter mates from 6 weeks old, so they are extremely attention seeking, cuddly, and vocal. I could not separate the brother and sister when I went to adopt them, so we ended up with two little darlings. They are truly a major presence in our household and provide a lot of entertainment and love. Milo and Olivia give more love than we could ever ask for from a cat. Just a note on medications, if that is an concern: Our Milo has had a few urinary crystal infections until our vet advised a medicated diet. Luckily, we have been 2 years problem free. Our other cat, Olivia, deals with asthma issues from all the pollen in the South. We bought air purifiers and that has helped Olivia tremendously. I also give her pills regularly to help her breathing. As a result, I have gotten quite good at giving animals medications with very minimal stress to the pet and myself.
