Very experienced!
Pet care experience
My father was a veterinarian and owned his own clinic, so I grew up in the business. I managed, and was usually the sole worker, in the clinic's large boarding facility for over 20 years. I assisted in tech duties, groomed, and even lived above the clinic, allowing me to give 24 hour care to the boarding and sick animals. After he retired 5 years ago and the clinic shut down, I moved on to work at another vet clinic, and part time at a doggy day care facility. I got married last year and would like to go part time and pursue creative endeavors, but would like to still care for dogs and make some extra steady money doing so. And my husband is always wanting more dogs in our life! I'm very active and healthy at 42, so you get maturity and experience, as well as energy with me. I have a very deep understanding of the varying needs of every dog. And have a lifetime of experience meeting those needs, from geriatric, to temperamental. They called me the "dog whisperer" at the old clinic because there wasn't a dog I couldn't handle or get to come out of its shell. I'm patient and calm and steady. And I have been cleaning up every kind of mess that can come from a dog since I was old enough to be put to work at the family business (and my father insisted i start very early!). So im not afraid of messes. I can administer medicine and follow any regimine needed for your dog's health and care, as I have the experience to understand the importance of these things.

Melissa was so sweet to my cat! She definitely made my first time using this app a great experience. She made sure that I felt comfortable and that my cat was taken care of. He definitely appreciated Melissa and I would recommend leaving your pet in her care ? she is awesome!
Melissa was so fantastic! My boys adored her and so did I. She left my home in such great condition too. My cats were happy and healthy and I could tell they had been well-taken care of because they were not upset with me for being away for two weeks! She spent time with them, sent plenty of picks and I could tell they were really at ease. Will absolutely have her back again for the next time I'm away. Don't hesitate to book her! She's wonderful ❤
Melissa was fantastic! My boys absolutely love her. I ended up being out of town another week and she is still looking after them. She has sent pics and daily updates every day. I know they are in great hands and I will absolutely have her back if I am in need of someone to look after my boys again.
Melissa and I worked together at Red Woof dog daycare/boarding facility and she caught on the quickest of any new hires we had in my time there. She took the time to learn all of dogs and their personalities even when we were at our busiest with 30+ dogs. She understands their body language and signs of any distress or when a dog needed some time away from the others to unwind and showed them all the same level of exceptional care. I have no doubt she would make an excellent member of your team!

Our home is kept clean and clutter free. We have a nice big dog bed in our kitchen that we built for Ripley that she loves to share. We do let her on our couch, and would let your dog as well, unless you preffered we didn't. In which case Ripley would have to stay down as well, so not teach bad habits. We have a full privacy fenced in back yard. Our dog, Ripley LOVES to play in it, especially with other dogs. But also has a natural respect for elderly dogs and will leave them be if they seem weaker. The white dog in my photos is a geriatric dog, doesn't like to be messed with and moves slow, Ripley is very gentle around her and leaves her be, usually laying next to her and watching over her as it shows in the picture. I can also crate your dog if you have a crate schedule. We do not crate our dog, but we have dog gates and plenty of room needed to accommodate different needs.

Information Melissa B. would like to know about your pet
Medical needs, old injuries or conditions that will need to be adjusted to. Diet, behavior quirks and temperament. Activity level. Aggression or protective levels. I have experience with all levels of these things.
A typical day
I love hiking in the woods, if your comfortable with that. But can also take simple neighborhood or park walks. If you prefer at home activities, we have a yard and some agility training tools like a tunnel and hurdle. And plenty of toys to play fetch. My dog LOVES playing and racing with other dogs as well. I also really love brushing dogs and giving them gentle massages. I used to be a groomer as well, and it's soothing to me to groom animals.

I have no problem taking care of animals during holidays. I've been doing it all my life. I work 20 hours a week out of the house, short shifts, so your dog would never be alone long if boarding with us. And crate or no crate is up to you during that time.
