Pet care experience
I have been rescuing dogs for 35 years. I've had 15 pugs, one from a puppy, all the rest were adult, senior, or handicapped. For those who knew Rocky, it is with a heavy heart to say he crossed the rainbow bridge on 3/4/24. Since my husband and I are retired, someone is always home. I watch only 3-4 dogs at a time, so your "family member" will have more specialized care during their vacation or daycare. All breeds under 40 lbs allowed (though most guests we have are 3 to 25 lbs). My house is large enough for your pet to run around with new friends if they want, but still cozy so he or she feels right at home. Last minute requests welcome (if space available). I send photos 2-3 times a day. Guests have full run of my air conditioned home. We do not crate. (If you wish your dog crated, we follow your request. You will need to bring your crate).
Reviews
Melissa took excellent care of my fur baby. She sent pictures every day and I was worried she would not want to come home after having such a good time. I am definitely going to use her again and I highly recommend Melissa
Melissa is perfect ! She sent photos and kept me updated without me having to ask. I was a little nervous dropping off my dog because she is particular about who she is around and also anti social with other dogs. After a day or so I was receiving pictures of my dog interacting with other doggies and allowing Melissa to pick her up! I cannot thank her enough for being patient and kind to my little pepper. She is my new and forever dog sitter. Best decision I made for my dog
My dogs loved staying at Melissa’s, she was very nice and sent me pictures almost every hour. I would highly recommend her💞
Excellent as always!

All dog breeds welcome under 40 lbs. Special needs dogs are welcome. I have 35 years experience with rescuing dogs, giving medication oral and by injection, special diet needs, anxiety and more. Must have Rabies/Distemper/flea & tick prevention. Canine Influenza vaccine is recommended but not required. Tell us about your dog's typical day. What time do they go out in the morning? How many times a day they eat? Special diet? Where do they sleep? What are their likes/dislikes so we can make them comfortable as if at home. Do they have any allergies? Medications that they need to take? Anything that we need to be on the lookout for, such as counter detectives, escape artists, diggers, excessive jumping, marks in the house (we have belly bands if needed), etc. The more up front you are about any of your dogs behaviors, the more prepared we can be and the better fun-filled stay your dog will have. I am not deterred by your dogs habits. You are welcome to bring their own dog beds, crate, food, toys, etc. We also have our own dog beds, comforters, blankets and towels if needed, for your dog (but we do not have crates).
A typical day
Guests are to run free, play with balls, frisbees or other toys, wonderful grassy and cement sunny areas and cool cabana shady spots to sit or lay. Many water bowls inside and out are out at all times.

Availability
I am very flexible with my hours since retired and have the time to be devoted to your pet day and night. My husband and I are full time dog sitters. Supervised at all times, a typical day involves exercise outside and interaction inside. Time to relax and stretch out, or playtime to run free. I have experience with special needs such as separation and other anxiety issues, blind, deaf and other illness.
