Pet care experience
I’ve taken care of a variety of animals through pet sitting and working at an small animal and exotics veterinary hospital. Through this I have become very comfortable with not just dogs and cats but also: bunnies, small rodents, birds, and reptiles. I also had the pleasure of interning at a facility that trains working dogs so I learned the right way to do basic obedience training for dogs. I also was a puppy raiser for a guide dog program that trains guide dogs. I raised a 3 month old guide dog until he was 11 months old. I am passionate about providing excellent pet care to enrich the lives of our animals!

Melanie is great with chewie. He is a big dog and can be a little hard to handle at times but she’s great with him. She is very responsive and was able to start helping us immediately.

I have been trusting Melanie with my pups for about 5 years. She is very responsible and knowledgeable about how to deal with all types of dogs. We have a nervous dog that Melanie took time and energy in the beginning to earn his trust. We also had a dog that had medical needs and Melanie was quite capable of meeting her needs when we were not there. My dogs truly love Melanie and I feel very comfortable leaving her with them.

It is important for me to know if a dog is reactive or not/what they are reactive too. It is also very important to know if a dog is dog friendly. It is also important for me to understand a dogs schedule when I am staying with them so I can stick to it so I disrupt their life the least possible :)
A typical day
During a typical day I will take care of each dog according to its needs. If it is a high energy dog I will take them on many walks including structured walks and decompression walks along with provide them with mental enrichment. For an older dog I will see what they are able to dog and make sure to give them time outside or take them for walks if they are up to it.
