Professional Dog Handler
Pet care experience
I’m a Professional Dog Trainer. I’ve been handling dogs for over 5+ years. I’ve handled just about every/any temperament of animals. I’ve had many cats and even ferrets growing up, so I can say I understand animal body language very well. I especially love big hyper dogs who can keep me on my toes or the grumpy cats who I can watch fall in love with me over time. All challenges are welcomed and accepted. I’m First Aid/ CPR Certified as of 2022. I’m hoping to further my knowledge of pets with schooling in the future. Plus the more certificates I can earn by learning and going to school, will not only keep my confidence around animals but I’m sure you’ll have a better peace of mind knowing your pets are safe with me as well.
Reviews
Mel B. cancelled a booking 4 days before it was scheduled to begin.
My dogs loved Mel! She was super sweet and they had a great time! The only issue I had was they were supposed to only be left alone a max of 2 hours at a time due to my dogs separation anxiety. My doorbell camera tracks any opening or closing of the doors and they were left alone for over 5 hours on two occasions during the week. Otherwise, everything was great!
This was our first time doing the overnight stays with Rover and Mel made it a wonderful experience. She is an excellent communicator and an even better friend to our animals. We so appreciated the frequent pics, updates, and quick response time. I highly recommend Mel! We will definitely rebook with her! :) THANKS MEL!!
I had high hopes but it started rocky from day one. Mel was unaware I was still at home when she left a Roover message stating she completed the first visit— sharing my two dogs had been to the bathroom, had water and pee breaks. What she didn’t know — they had been outside for almost 2 hours and wouldn’t have had anything to Pee out. I messaged her and her first response was OH NO. I feel my dogs were stressed in the 1 day and a half she was with them. — she couldn’t get them to eat. My girl dog refused to take her 1/2 tablet of dasuquin and clearly she didn’t read my notes — they both clean their bowls when it’s time for breakfast or dinner. Mel decided to put peanut butter with the tablet. it I don’t give my dogs peanut butter and the contract clearly states to give me a call with any issues- I sent a message to crush it in her food. She did what she wanted to. Both of my dogs are not eating for a half day and all of today speaks high anxiety or stress — something they have never had when it comes to food or me being away. The meals they eat are cooked and they don’t eat dog food. I arrive home and find the spoon used for mixing their food is broken and Mel made sure to take a picture of it and sent with the group photos — not being broken. The spoon will be replaced but the idea to take a picture of a broken spoon that I received in to separate pieces next to each other was ridiculous. My dogs are generally very active Shih Tzu’s but arriving home something’s not right. I called Mel to find out what happen and she said she couldn’t get them to eat— and had to hand feed them. States she didn’t give them anything and I never implies she did — I shared my Girl dogs is immediacy falling asleep. And usually they are so active when I get home I have to say the IN command — key word for go to your bed and have a seat—-both immediately seem tired. This was not a good match for them and I will not be using her service again. She even placed my door key under the mat outside the home— and when I called literally had an attitude. I shared if a key is given to her in hand —for the safety of the person’s home never place it under a door mats I also shared she could have left the key inside the home and set the alarm as she did leaving the bottom lock secured but never outside under a mat. I also didn’t give instructions to leave it there as well. My home could have been broken into.. thankfully I’m home now. I also provided typed notes regarding their care—and sent her a photo of the email address that showed it was sent to her — again it wasn’t read. Moving forward I will only hire sitters that have animals. Those without animals and not to say all but based on my last two experiences it been another fail.

Information Mel B. would like to know about your pet
Please let me know the temperament of the dog. If they are calm or hyper so I know how to plan activities accordingly. Also if they are good on a leash or get along well with other dogs. Any allergies they might have and if they are potty trained or not.
A typical day
I love to do outside based extracurricular activities such as dog parks or jogs. I sometimes take the water dogs to the river. Obviously they are leashed at that time unless they have a good recall. Also I might take your pup to get a snack at a dog bakery or pup cups.

Availability
I work full time with pets on and off of Rover. I do regular services through Rover, but if your interested in some training for your pets while they are in my care; message me for more info. I believe that if I’m going to dedicate part of my life to something I might as well do it full time. Plus animals put me in a choke-hold; I can never say no to them.
