Pet care experience
I've been working professionally with dogs for six years. I got my start at a high-end boarding facility where I maintained strict diets, administered medications, and gave lots of love to dogs that were missing their humans. I've donated my time to the Mat-Su Animal shelter walking dogs, assisting the vet in neuters and spays, introducing animals to potential adopters, and helping at the adoption clinics. I now groom professionally at Chewy's Dogwash in Eagle River. It is such rewarding work. I attend grooming/ canine health and behavior seminars any chance I get. I am certified in Canine First Aid / CPR. My partner and I have three dogs: an 11 year old chocolate lab, a 7 year old bully breed mix, and a 5 year old pug. Mel has an enormous love of dogs . She takes the time and extra effort to make sure dogs are taken care of as if they were her own . Her natural gentle and sweet nature is comforting to dogs who are unsure or scared . An all around amazing pet person .
I have worked with Mel for about 4 months now and she is truly the kindest animal care provider I've ever met. She's patient and compassionate. She is always striving to do her job better. She's a kind soul and anyone who has her caring for their fur babies are very lucky!

-Aggression: Dog, human, food/resource guarding- Not necessarily a deal-breaker, we can work together through some issues. -Will the dog be uncomfortable with me entering house while owner is not home? I love all breeds, but can not physically handle large dogs that pull.
A typical day
Depending on the dog, -Off-leash dog parks -Swimming (University Lake) -Leashed walks on local trails/ through neighborhoods -Bike rides I work full-time in Eagle River. I'm available 6am-7:30am and 3:30pm-10:00pm M-F. I usually have weekends off, but occasionally work.
