Caring, patient, & friendly walker!

Pet care experience

I've taken care of dogs since 6 years old- through these years, I've learned to train, walk, socialize, and uplift dogs. I have a dog of my own, Kiwi, that I take on frequent walks and dog park play time. I specialize in caring for pets with separation anxiety, rescues, and any level of training. No pup/cat is too difficult! As long as they are not aggressive, I'm happy to provide top level care. Neighbors have relied on me for overnight onboarding and multiple-day care. I also have fostered puppies that required potty training/exercise. Flexible pet care with mostly after 5pm on weekdays availability and anytime during the weekends. I am also open to early morning commitments. Dog walking/onboarding would be an add-on joy to my current full time job in renewable energy. At home, I have a rescue cat and dog that have required a safe, loving, and nurturing environment. Similarly to my own pets, I would ensure optimal comfort and wellbeing for the lil ones. It could be in the form of baby gates for safe spaces for multi-pet environment, scaning the area for potential issues (i.e. choking hazards for puppies), and providing my undivided attention to them.

Moose had the best time hanging with Mel! She provided excellent care for our pup and was super communicative on updates throughout the day. We will be booking with her again soon.

This was our second time using Mel as a sitter and it certainly won’t be our last. She’s the best! Our pup loves her, she’s communicative and sends the cutest pics!

I had the best experience with Mel! She was on time, stayed with my puppy, Charli, the whole day, and even took cute photos of her to keep me updated throughout the day. It took all the stress away from leaving her! It was obvious Charli loved her right away. I will definitely be using Mel again and couldn’t recommend her more.

Safety, trust & environment

Given my experience is with rescue animals, I am extra careful of what could pose a harm to any dog or cat. I'm constantly scaning the environment for hazards, and rather be safe than sorry. Your pets safety is my priority, and I make sure they are safe in my care. As a pet parent myself, I would want a sitter to keep them safe and happy at all times. That is the kind of intention I bring to taking care of the lil ones.

Information Mel B. would like to know about your pet

Let me know if your dog has any food allergies or special needs/attention/triggers on walks. I usually carry treats since my pup is so food motivated, so let me know if that is okay for your dog. Additionally, if there is any "best practices" you'd like me to keep in mind to prevent reactivity and have more enjoyable walks.

A typical day

I love to teach/practice commands, go on longer walks, and lead with positive reinforcement. Depending on the dog, I'm happy to adapt to their needs -whether it is cuddle on the couch or play fetch!

Availability

I prioritize pet wellbeing according to their needs. Depending on the day of the week, it could mean walks to the park, a beach day, or a potential hike. I'm happy to adjust to their needs and walking preference! Since I work full time from home, M-F, this allows for your pup to always be supervised and have a play/cuddle mate, my pup Kiwi. On the weekends, my care is much more active meaning more time outdoors and tailoring to your pets needs. I absolutely love learning about pets quirks -does your cat like being taken out on a backpack? Does your dog love to watch Harry Potter? Believe it or not, I have embraced those special preferences and made them part of my care. ♥️
