Pet care experience
I have a house full of fluff! Multi-dog home with big and small, male and female. Have done puppyhood and adopted adult dogs. Have cats and guinea pigs as well, and so am experienced with them, too! I work as a pet trainer with PetSmart and interact with dogs of all ages and breeds. I love my job and love helping other pet parents learn to be great communicators with their dogs and advocate for them! I have a specialist honours degree in comparative physiology from the University of Toronto. Once I’ve graduated from CMCCs Doctor of Chiropractic program I will be completing certification in Animal Chiropractic. Have done medication administration including eye drops, pills/tablets, and ointments.

Simply amazing! My pets loved Mekeena and she was so informative, keeping me up to date on how the week was going while she took care of my 4 fur babies. 2 dogs and 2 cats. Mekeena truly went above and beyond from the start. She took the time to get to know the pets and gather any and all information relative to providing the best care while I was away. I believe in being an effective communicator and our pets best advocate. I am continuously researching and learning how to improve as a pet parent and trainer. I do my best to ensure they receive good nutrition, activities, and rest. Understanding the breed(s) and the individual dog has helped me build great relationships with my pups.

Great things for me to know to ensure your pup stays happy and safe! Does your dog have special needs? Medications? Are they people or dog selective/reactive? Are they muzzle trained/do they use one when out? What kind of gear does your dog use? Any triggers I should know about? Anything that tends to startle them or make them uncomfortable? What cues/commands for you use with them? Any allergies or treat preferences?
A typical day
Local walks are an option! I have long lines (50ft) and we can spend time sniffing and exploring nearby parks/fields. Places my pups enjoy include Bayfront Park and Confederation Beach Park. Those are options if close by. If fetch, tug, scavenger/find it games are your pups kind of fun, let me know!
