(Retired) Veterinary Surgical Asst

Pet care experience

I was born into a family with a pack of dogs. I fostered dogs constantly from 2012 to 2020. I have trained a couple dogs as well. I have pet sat for multiple families with multiple pets. I worked in veterinary medicine for 3 years and most of that was specialized in ortho & soft tissue surgery. I have 1 dog currently. He is a neutered male at about 50pounds & gets along well with other dogs; however, unless your fur baby is a regular, they will probably be separated most of the time just as a precaution. I have experience with aggressive dogs, scared dogs, giant (200pound) dogs, tiny dogs, etc. I have a fenced backyard big enough to run in but not big enough to explore for hours. I work 4 10hour shifts a week & my husband occasionally works from home. Potty breaks depend on the day. I have loved dogs since before I could walk & I would be happy to meet you and your fur baby. My full address is not provided until a conversation is had.

Meghan is someone I would trust my fur children with in a heartbeat. She has years of experience, growing up in a family that fostered dogs constantly. She also has worked in vet offices for over 3 years, so if there is an emergency, she will know what to do and not panic. I highly recommend you trust Meghan to watch your babies!

Meghan is one of the few we trust to look after our girls when we’re out of town. She always goes above and beyond to make sure Stella and Lady get the same love and attention we give. 10/10 recommend

Safety, trust & environment

As stated before, I have a decent sized fenced backyard- not too big, not too small. I have at least one crate. Your pet will be crated when no one is home. Toys & things are not left lying about to be eaten as I have seen enough foreign body surgeries on curious critters.

Information Meghan J. would like to know about your pet

If your pets have any special needs, I require being told ahead of time. I have had many pets with specials needs before & I have a soft spot for them. It is very unlikely I will refuse to watch a pet with specials needs. That being said... I prefer dogs to be on some type of heartworm prevention as well as fleas. If you arrive & your pet has fleas, I may cancel the boarding. On the off chance, you arrive with a pet that has a gapping wound, I will also likely cancel the boarding & redirect you to a veterinary clinic.

A typical day

My dog, my husband, and I enjoy playing fetch more than any other game! However, tug-of-war is close second. We mostly play around outside in the backyard.

As stated before, potty breaks for boarders depend on the day (I work 4 10hour shifts a week & my husband occasionally works from home). For Doggy Day Care & drop-in visits, those will likely only be an option on the weekend- which will have more potty breaks & play time.
