Pet care experience
Hey there, I'm Megan! My very first experience with dogs began back in 7th grade - my family brought home my first dog, a German Shepherd. I had been designated as the trainer of the new puppy, but none of us knew what we were in for. Ellie, my GSD, developed fear-reactivity to just about everything. I started working closely with a professional trainer, Nikki Welch (Dream Dogs Training). Ellie sent me headfirst into the world of dog training, reactivity, and aggression, which very quickly became a thrilling new interest. I started working for Nikki during the summers, first running play groups during playcare and eventually training puppies. Working under Nikki provided me extensive experience with a wide range of dogs, from puppies to adults, toy Poodles to German Shepherds, performing a vast array of tasks. Additionally, I spent two weeks in January 2023 interning at A Pleasant Dog, honing my skills with reactive dogs and furthering my knowledge about training dogs with positive and ethical methods. I am comfortable working through any anxieties your dog might have -- yes, that includes reactivity! -- and would be happy to answer any questions I can about your dog's training and/or behavior. Spending time with dogs and getting to know each individual is a treat, and I look forward to meeting your special pup!
Reviews
Megan is great at know what a dog’s needs are. She is very sweet and gentle with any dog that she is taking care of. She has the patience to take things at the dogs speed. Megan will always think about the dog’s best interest. She is great at helping to train dogs, something I was able to witness first hand. She takes it slow to make sure that the dog is always comfortable. Megan is loving with any dog. I know that she when she is with my dog she will do everything that she can to help her and take care of her needs.

Safety, trust & environment
I'm very familiar with the Grand Rapids area and local walking paths. My experience working with reactive dogs has made me very confident in my ability to be aware of my surroundings and keep your pup safe, whether on a walk or hanging out in the backyard.
Information Megan S. would like to know about your pet
Let me know if your dog has any special needs for their behavior, such as being fearful of strangers, reactive to certain things, or if there's behavior that I should not encourage (e.g. jumping, racing out the door, counter surfing, etc).
A typical day
I'm happy to cater to your dog's needs, whatever they may be! If that means we take a very long walk or just hang out on the couch, I'm glad to do either. We'll make sure that we have lots of fun, whatever activities we do!

Availability
I'm a local college student, so my schedule varies each weekday. My weekends and evenings are typically open to spend with your pup! Weekdays can be a little chaotic with classes, so my availability really depends on the day and time.
