Dog Trainer in Training!

Pet care experience

Do you need help getting your dog exercise or activity? What about chances to be the dog that they are like going on sniffaris, taking a dip in a creek, or romping through a trail in the woods? Or maybe you just need someone to hang out with your buddy in the backyard to have some company and time outside while you’re at work. These are my specialties! I’m currently working towards earning my Professional Dog Trainer Certification and want to use my opportunities on Rover as a way to meet new dogs with all different personalities! Through my walks and activities with your dog I hope to help meet their biological needs like sniffing, playing, running, jumping & so much more. Every dog has different needs and I look forward to getting to know the individual that is your dog!

Megan has watched our dog on several occasions when we would travel. She was always communicative and considerate and always accommodating --even when we would be away for lengthy times. Her upbeat and friendly demeanor was a welcomed trait for caring for our pet and always kept us at ease. She is a great pet sitter and we would recommend her services heartedly.

Megan is the ultimate caretaker for your dog. We owned a dog together for many years and she was the most attentive, compassionate and responsible owner. She and I have also taken care of our friend's dogs together switching on and off days, etc. So I can attest to her thoughtful approach to dog sitting. She gives any dog all the attention it could ever need while also making sure to update you as the owner on how your pooch is doing. Megan is also well-versed in extra care-taking needs for certain dogs. Our dog was prone to seizures and she knew how to take care of him. I was always confident leaving our dog Teddy, in Megan's capable hands. Megan is a kind, cheerful, active person who cares about yours and your dog's needs. She works hard to get to know you and is very accommodating. Most importantly she will be responsible, gentle, caring, and attentive to you and your beloved furry friend!

Safety, trust & environment

Safety: I am an excellent leash handler (especially with long leashes). I have experience working around reactive dogs and dogs who are highly anxious and need more management in new environments. I make sure that the activities I do with your dog are appropriate for their size, age and energy level. (ie. sprinting around should only be done with adult dogs whose bone structure in their legs has completed forming and they aren’t too old or have hip or knee issues.) Trust: I only use positive methods when working with dogs. I always have treats with me in case there is a training opportunity while I’m with your dog. I make sure to manage the environment and watch your dog for signs of stress and if they are uncomfortable in any situation I’ll change the environment we are in. Environment: I like to cultivate fun and positive activities and walks that will only help your dog build more confidence. I only use positive training and handling methods. No force, fear, or pain - ever.

Information Megan S. would like to know about your pet

What age, size and gender is your dog? Does your dog like other dogs, people, cats or other animals? Do they have any physical limitations that will impact the activities I do with them? (Ex. Hip issues, surgeries, etc)

A typical day

When out with me (or at your house for drop-ins) your dog and I will have loads of fun! I like to stimulate your dog physically and mentally with different types of games and activities. I like to bring a treat pouch to work on nose games, basic skills and to show them that new things means yummy food! We’ll go around your neighborhood playing games and sniffing all the things. We’ll find a creek to splash in nearby or a trail to frolic in. Whatever your dog needs and is comfortable with, I’ll find it with them!
