Pet care experience

I’ve been fortunate enough to grow up with dogs ever since I was a baby! All the dogs I’ve grown up with have been rescue dogs with huge personalities. They were all relatively big so although I’m on the tiny side myself, I’m very comfortable around big dogs. I do find that I hugely miss having someone as company on long walks or just to sit and watch tv with and I feel dogs have a huge influence on your health both mentally and physically and If I could get another one I would in a heartbeat. Max is our current family dog and he is the best thing to come home to after a long day at work! However I finally flew the nest back in October 2021 and although I would love to have my own bundle of joy to live with, I need to do a bit more saving before I am able to afford the financial responsibility of my own dog. I’m very new to the area and don’t know anyone so it’d be great to have some company from your furry friend. I work from home so I will always be with them. I regularly look after my parents and friends dogs and have a growing number of dog owners I have met who can trust me to look after their pets when they need me. Big or small and any breed, it doesn’t matter to me as long as they love lots of love and attention :) I would be happy to contact you throughout the day or each day with photos or videos of how they are getting on :)

We can highly recommend Megan. Frank had a wonderful few days with her, and we will certainly be using her services again in the future.

Really happy with how Megan has looked after Henry. She took on board all his needs and looked after him perfectly! He was really happy and relaxed when we picked him up... we will definitely be booking again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend her.

Megan was delightful and treated the girls as if they were her world. This was my first time leaving them with someone other than my mum, Megan’s personality quickly made you feel like you’ve always known her, and I am blown away by how comfortable she made me feel leaving them. They were very well looked after, she was very thorough in making sure their routines weren’t disturbed and if there were any preferences in their care and she loved them with all her heart. Megan provided me with texts, pictures and videos throughout their stay (making me less nervous) as to what they were up to which was very reassuring and thoughtful. I would definitely recommend Megan and I will be boasting about her to everyone! Thanks again Megan!

I have a reasonable sized garden which is fenced off from the neighbours for them to have a run around and play in. I have no rules when it comes to where they're allowed around the house however I will follow whatever pattern they are used to. Therefore if they are normally not allowed to sleep on the bed, I won't confuse them into bad habits by letting them on my bed. I want you pets to feel at home and comfortable with me therefore I want them to have as similar routine as they would usually have such as the usual bathroom breaks, bedtime, number and lengths of walks and dinner times. I have a Syrian hamster called Buzz who I love to pieces and is kept out of site in his own special room so that neither Buzz nor your furry friend get spooked by each other

Information Megan J. would like to know about your pet

Please could you let me know if your dog has any special requirements I should know about prior to their stay. So I can ensure your dog has the most stress free experience, I would also like to know what time of day they usually get up/ go to bed, get fed and go for walks in order for me to follow that routine so that they get a very similar experience to being at home. Please could you let me know how long to walk your dog for to ensure I don’t walk them for too little/ too much.

A typical day

As all dogs are different and require different types of care, there is no set typical day. For owners who inform me their dog is very calm and likes to spend most of the day resting, I tend to let them decide where they’d like to nap (whether it be sat next to me on the sofa, laying on the cool kitchen floor, or on the bed) and wait for them to let me know when they’d like to play. Whereas if an owner informs me their dog is very active, I will spend a lot of time either in the garden or the lounge playing (e.g. fetch, chase, tug of war) to ensure they are stimulated with lots of different games. I will ask the owners what types of walks they would like their dogs to go on as I am fortunate enough to live someone with lots of different walking routes. I also like to switch it up if I have a dog for longer than a day to make sure they go on different routes and can explore the different smells of the area. There is a choice of field walks, woodland walks, riverside walks and pavement walks. I find it useful to know what a typical day is like for their dog and do my best to mirror this during their stay :)

I work from home therefore I love having a dog to keep me company and gives lots of fuss and attention to or even fall asleep on my lap while I work. My job allows me to have regular breaks for me to allow you pets to have a run in the garden or go to the loo.
