Professional Guide Dog Trainer

Pet care experience

I was a Guide Dog Mobility Instructor/Trainer for Guide Dogs for the Blind for 6.5 years before recently moving into a more advanced position providing virtual and in-person support to service dog handlers/clients at Guide Dog Foundation and America's Vet Dogs. Before moving to Portland, I was living in NYC working as a dog walker/ pet sitter full-time for a company I created, Pups sur la Promenade. Serving people and caring for animals are my passions in life! I have many years of experience in the professional animal care field as well as experience fostering shelter dogs and training dogs with behavioral problems. I'm comfortable administering medications, dealing with special needs dogs, and catering to anything else you and your pet may need. I understand the importance of individualized care, reliability, and clear communication to give you peace of mind while you are away from your furry family member. :) I can't wait to meet you and your fur-baby!

Megan was amazing! She's very professional and went above and beyond during her time with my pup. I'll absolutely book her again and highly recommend her.

Megan has watched our dog, Finn, numerous times since even his high maintenance puppy days. She has a true passion for animals and has treated our dog like one of her own. Megan is responsible, intuitive, caring and energetic. I am always confident leaving our dog with Megan as I know our pup is getting so much love and attention - she even sends text updates with pictures and all. Megan makes it so much less stressful when we go out of town since we know Finn is in such good hands.

Megan is great with all pets! She owns two dogs and a cat and has been a dog owner her entire life. She currently works as a trainer for seeing eye dogs and dogs for other disabilities. She would absolutely be caring and responsible in any capacity for your dog!

I would definitely recommend Megan to any family looking for a responsible and caring dog sitter. She dog sat for my dog Ruby and did everything that we asked. She even texted us pictures of Ruby throughout the weekend so we knew that she was doing okay. I've worked as a Vet Assistant at a Veterinary Clinic for over 5 years and have 2 years of experience working in an Animal Shelter and Megan has my highest appraisal as a potential dog sitter.

Safety, trust & environment

Should you wish to have your dog come for doggy day care, I live in a home I own with my husband with a securely fenced back yard. We have a young male Golden Retriever named "Ginkgo" who is very gentle, playful, affectionate, and loves other dogs! Having worked with many dogs with varying needs, I am very mindful of dog dynamics and am confident and competent reading dog body language and intervening when necessary so every pup feels comfortable. Should your buddy need quiet time or a break, I have baby gates to create separation, crates, and tie-downs. We also have plenty of standard dog toys as well as enrichment toys! Our house is "dog proofed," and I am always mindful of supervising new dogs so they stay safe and happy!

Dogs allowed on furniture
Potty breaks every 2-4 hours

Information Megan D. would like to know about your pet

Please share as many details about your pup as possible; the more I know, the better I can serve you and your dog. Please especially let me know about any "quirks" your special buddy might have. Any issues with anxiety? Incontinence? Escape artist? Picky eater? Etc. None are deal breakers, but please alert me so I can keep your pup safe and happy while you are away.

A typical day

I generally walk my personal dog at least twice a day and would include your pup in that routine! We have lots of toys, comfy beds, enrichment toys, and a large park walkable from our house. My personal dog and I love to cuddle, and we'd be happy to add another pup into the mix.
