Pet care experience

CAT + DOG CARE EXPERIENCE: ☆ Note for New Clients: I am fully vaccinated (+ have had 2 booster shots - most recent: 11/14/22). I am willing to do walks + drop-in visits with new clients who are within ~9 miles of my residence in “Brighton, Boston.” However, I will ask to be compensated for transit ($4/day if it's not in walking distance - about <= 20 mins of walking). I would also appreciate compensation for my time if we do a meet & greet to meet you + your loved one(s) as well. ☆ ($4 transit, $10.50 for 30 mins or less, $21 for 30-60 mins). Through Rover/Since I Started Working at Rover: I have successfully spent time with, gotten to know, bonded with, + supervised animals via visits, walks + house-sitting for both cats & dogs (as well as Guinea pigs, ferrets, hermit crabs, and parakeets). ***Note: This profile is not updated and extensive in terms of clientele. Will update with details. I have a lot of experience with leash-reactive dogs as well. I have some experience with dogs with food aggression. I also have a lot of experience with formerly abused dogs and rescues. I have experience treating wounds/sores on a dachsund's belly with medicated shampoo, who has had staph. Before Rover: I have lived with cats, dogs and other nonhuman animals since before I was 5 years young. I loved them all deeply like family. I was the kid who adopted the outdoor cats + made my front porch feel like home for them (Tiger and Cream were their names). Tiger looked like an Egyptian Mau and Toyger + mixed. Cream was a fluffy marmalade that looked like a Persian and Norwegian Forest mixed cat. I supported Max, my lifelong canine companion (when I was 8-22 years young), financially at the vet when I was just a student worker in undergrad. We thought Max was a Beagle and Jack Russel Terrier mixed. He had the size and sweetness of a beagle, but the aesthetic of a Jack Russel Terrier. He was mostly around 20 lbs. My last caregiving job, I had the pleasure of living in a house, taking care of, spending time with + loving on: 2 cats (fluffy Mandy + the calico Moochi), 2 bird dogs (Bailey + Little Anne), + Toby - a mutt that came and went with separation anxiety. Mandy looked like a Maine Coon, Norwegian Forest Cat and Ragdoll Mixed. Moochi looked mostly like a LaPerm, but could have also been mixed. Bailey + Little Anne were roughly 35-60 lbs about. Toby wasn't more than 40 lbs. I was with Max when he was in diapers, and I was happy to give him baths in our outdoor kiddy pool even though he wasn't! Each dog or cat I bond with becomes family. Even the two indoor-outdoor cats that hung out outside my last apartment, Penelope + Origami, loved to play with me and say hi and hang out on my front porch, or follow me around the yard. One time I helped Penelope get down from a tree even. I am that person that you would say "Wow, they've never walked up to anyone like that before." I am a cat and dog whisperer. I don't mind shedding or "smelling like dog" lol. Penelope looked like an Egyptian Mau + Toyger mixed. And Origami looked like a Ragdoll, Munchkin Cat, Turkish Angora, Nebelung mixed. Before the caregiver-free-rent gig with the 5 dogs and cats, I was recommended from another professor who had a sweet lab named Callie. She loved chasing the tennis ball and licking me until I rejected her kisses/bathing. Needless to say, I have tons of dog-walking experience since I was 8 (am now 26 years young), and i am totally down to walking with a cat on a harness too, if wanted or needed. I have always been that person that couldn't choose cats or dogs. I have always loved both. Tiger, one of the outside cats I adopted from childhood, brought me a bird gift, and Moochi slept on my body or bed every night. I have also been trusted from various friends + family to look after their dogs and cats, both overnight and for playdates, walks, and supervision time: Annie's lab Graham Cracker or "Grammy," her feline fam Snickerdoodle and Munchkin, Karlie's feline family named Kurt; and even when my mom looked after her neighbor's Cooper - she and the neighbor trusted me to look after and play with Cooper. Snickerdoodle is a Manx. Munchkin is an orange American Shorthair/Tabby cat. Cooper looked like a Lab Mixed. Kurt looks like a Toyger, Chartreux etc Mix cat. Cooper was a puppy, and I took care of Max in his last [senior] years and of Graham Cracker in her senior years, so I know how to be patient with slower/senior dogs. I've never been a fan of seeing it as "walking them" as much as letting them decide where we walk and if we go in circles or sniff and stay (as long as where they want to go is safe and reasonable). I am patient, and I both respect the autonomy of dogs and cats and am responsible in making sure they are supervised in their choices. I also had a flip phone even in 2014, so hopefully that tells you how much I'm really not on my phone, so I might not have the best pictures + am not a fan of posing for them. I am totally fine with taking pictures of the dog(s) or cat(s) for you with or without me though! I've never been asked in the past, which is why I might lack some good photos lol. ☆ Added in June '21: I also have recently taken care of two adult (almost senior) dogs for one week: a small, male Yorkshire Terrier (10.0825 years, 11 lbs) & a small, female Dachsund (9.0825 years, 11 lbs). I can't wait to add love to your canine companion or feline friend's lives: by walking outside with them, spending time inside/outside with them (including play and cuddling time!), and making sure they have nutrients and hydration. Looking forward to meeting them + being there for them + with them! SCHEDULE: I took a Leave of Absence and then opted out of returning from my graduate program in February 2021 - Jan 2022, so I am just taking things slow right now and focusing on doing things i love and acquiring new job(s) + purposes that make me feel alive (like having dog(s) + cat(s) in my life!). I was a professional maths/stats/ELA/writing tutor for 5.5 years before starting my grad program in Fall 2020. I will be working Rover (+ tutoring) more like full-time June 2022 - January 2024. SAFETY, TRUST & ENVIRONMENT: I do not have a crate, but will crate your loved one if needed (and you have one at your place or we can transport yours to my place). I don't really have a specific way to care for animals at others' homes. At my apartment, I am open to crating your doggo, but it’s really up to you! The only reason I would insist on crating them is if you’re unsure if they will be destructive in my home and/or get into things they shouldn’t! My last two serious dog and cat-sitting gigs had very specific instructions which I followed. I am a very meticulous person, and I just want what is best for the dog or cat. With my meticulousness comes great attention. When I am taking care of some one, I will always be focusing on them, undistracted and considering how they are doing and feeling and what they want and need. I don't get bothered by barking or meowing or other vocalization, as I know it is just communication for needing or wanting something that only I can give them (letting them outside, food, going into a room with a closed door etc) or them wanting attention - which I am happy to give. I am open to taking care of other nonhuman animals too if needed. This would generally be $10-$29/day, varying with the difficulty or time required for the care. Through Rover, I have additionally taken care of: Guinea pigs, parakeets, hermit crabs, and ferrets. I've lived with a mouse. I also have babysat a 6 year old human. I am open to being a care companion as well. ***Note: This profile is not updated and extensive in terms of clientele. As you may be able to tell by my numbers, I have taken care of many more different types and ages and needs status of cats and dogs than enumerated here.

As always, Megan has done a fantastic job taking care of our blind toothless boy. She has earned his trust to the point that he seems to look forward to her coming and giving pets and belly rubs. We are so thankful that we found her, and I highly recommend her to everyone, especially those with shy and special needs cats.

Megan was such a great sitter for Cooper. She made time for introductions before her stay to ensure both her and Cooper were comfortable with each other, and she asked questions during the intros to make sure she was fully prepared for her stay. During the sitting, Megan provided very thorough updates on how Cooper was doing at home and during his walks. She made sure he was comfortable and happy and was a great house guest. I will be booking Megan to stay with Cooper again!

Megan was wonderful with my kitty, and so sweet and communicative! I was a little unsure at first, since this was my first time booking through an app, but I would definitely pick Megan in the future when I need kitty care!

I like to give them as much autonomy as permittable by their human + is reasonable. I love letting them choose where to walk + explore + let them stop + smell the flowers all they want :-)

Information Megan G. would like to know about your pet

I only have experience with dogs with the following types of special needs: separation anxiety, general anxiety (anxious on walks, being around other dogs), bladder cancer, + senior care. I have a lot of experience with leash-reactive dogs as well. I have some experience with dogs with food aggression. I also have a lot of experience with formerly abused dogs and rescues. I have experience treating wounds/sores on a dachsund's belly with medicated shampoo, who has had staph. I have experience with cats with the following special needs: blindness, separation anxiety, GI, + arthritis. For dogs or cats with other special needs, I am open to take care of them and provide what they need but need to make sure you know I do not have experience with any needs other than the aforementioned, that I am aware of. I just need to know their likes and dislikes - if they want to be pet much and in what places they do or don't like to be pet, because generally I am inclined to give love and affection. I also can/will administer injected medicine to dogs and cats, but I do not have experience with it. I would need direction for this (written/verbal, at least).

A typical day

I can play with them and their favorite toys forever and will let them lick me forever. I love taking dogs on walks. I never get tired of tug-of-war. I will play with kitties if they like to be played with or help stimulate them to play alone. I love giving treats and all the pets, love, head and neck rubs, and boops. I love playing endless fetch with both cats and dogs. I am happy to do the activity of their choice, as long as it is safe - and not too messy for the homeowner! Lots of loving, when they want to chill. I don't mind a little cat or dog slobber on my hand from fetch. :-)
