Mega Pawventures Pet Care

Pet care experience

*** Serving confluence region of Central-North Chevy Chase, Upper NW + Upper NE DC, southern end of Kensington, the southern/western region of Silver Spring (downtown to the Forest Glen vicinity) and a little into eastern Bethesda *** ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I have always loved animals for as long as I can remember and I used to want to become a veterinarian. This is allowing me to spend more time caring for them, while helping pet owners who cannot be there 24/7 all year. I have been doing pet sitting jobs for neighbors and friends since I was at least ~ 11 years old. My family bred our own dog and I was present for the delivery of the puppies, as well as helped in their early care. When I was young we also had a ferret and a cat. Over the years in addition to many dogs and cats, I have helped care for turtles, frogs, bunnies, chickens, chinchillas, hamsters, parrots and horses etc and love them all. I enjoy the variety of personalities and uniqueness of each animal and I am comfortable working with nervous or fearful pets as well. The dog in my main profile picture is one that was very fearful of strangers. The photo of her and I is within the first hour of meeting her. Her owners were out while she was alone with me for the first time, so she was still on high alert, as you can see her listening out for them, but she quickly calmed down quite a bit to allow me to pet her and get so close so quickly. I currently work prn (as needed) as a health care worker, and it is a natural tendency to extend the care to animals as well. Currently I do not have any pet family members (that live with me anyway) so it will be easier for me to give all my attention and love to yours! I treat them as though they are family to me. 😊

Megan is a wonderful dog walker, even with helping my senior dog who required some extra help going up the stairs. You can tell she really cares and has a lot of experience working with animals with various needs. Your pet will be in good hands with Megan. 💜

Megan is always amazing. We had a long day away from the house and knowing my dog would be walked twice was such a relief.

Megan did a great job watching our cats while we were on a ten day trip. I have a lot of anxiety about leaving my cats and I am always nervous about new sitters, but she was very communicative and sent 20+ pictures every visit! I would book her again in a heartbeat.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ WALKS/DROP-INS: I enjoy taking pets for walks, playing with them and giving them lots of affection and attention. For hour long walks or hotter days I carry water with me. I will clean out any litter boxes, or take care of any pee pads. Any feeding needs please let me know. I will send you updates via texts, videos or photos per your preference. I usually also carry small training treats with me so please let me know if prefer I not use or if any dietary restrictions (I will also ask you but in case you read all this). For any severe weather days - (extreme heat + humidity, bad storms etc) - I will take out just long enough to do their poop/urination needs but will bring inside so safe and can spend the remainder of the time doing stimulating play time. [In addition to the 30 min and 1 hour options, I can also do an adjusted 45 min option walk or drop-in visit.] BOARDING: For any dogs I board - I take them out for regular walks at least 3-4x/daily (morning, mid-day walk as needed per pet, afternoon between ~2:30p-5:30p, ~ 9-11:00pm). Times are somewhat flexible depending on pet and schedule. I like hiking and would be excited to take your dog if that is something suitable for them as well! I enjoy engaging them in play and give them a cozy place to sleep and make sure they feel at ease. I have a partner who will be here with them as well. He also loves animals, is very good with all different personalities and happy to play with them — so they will have lots of attention and fun! We have a dog (or cat) bed and blanket (will be laundered), some toys, puzzles and spare food/water dishes. Please pack any necessary food for feedings, with at least one additional day worth just in case. Include a favorite familiar toy and/or their own bed/blanket if it is your preference. If have a lot of separation anxiety it may help to include a small article that smells like you and home. For kitties - please pack their regular food with at least one additional day worth, their litter box, some additional refill litter as well, some of their favorite treats if use any and a favorite toy. I have some spare additional cat toys and a spare carrier suitable for car travel just in case, but it is much more ideal if they are comfortable with their own, it would help to have one familiar to them. I have bowls I can use for feedings/water. It would be best to try a couple pre boarding visits to get acquainted and familiar with coming to a new space for boarding. If they are an older cat who has never been boarded, it is best to stick with drop-in visits or house pet-sitting. HOUSE PET SITTING: I am happy to bring in mail/packages and water plants as needed etc. I can help with any routine, minor lawn tasks. I can also take out trash/recycling and so on. And of course all the normal pet care of walks/play/feedings/affection/litter box cleanings etc. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ FOR BOARDING DETERMINATION: *** Must be up to date on flea/tick care and vaccinations. Please be aware that we do live in a small condo in a pet - friendly community. There are 2 curb steps outside to enter and 3 steps inside to access the front door. I am happy to help assist any senior or dogs with disabilities. Our place is a small size, so I just want you to be aware of that prior to make sure you are ok with it. We have boarded up to ~ 85 pounds dogs before though. We also have several good walking trails nearby, including wooded and non-wooded trails, and some fields near us for some fun play on a long lead and I have a flirt stick for high energy dog play as well for those dogs that take to that. Pets Under 35 Pounds: If you have two dogs or cats that get along ok, I can board up to two from the same client. Pets Over 35 Pounds: If you have a dog over 35 pounds I can board just one at a time. SPECIAL NEEDS + PUPPIES (+ KITTIES!) I adore puppies (who doesn’t?!) and love older pets or pets with special needs as well! I want to make sure I can provide the adequate level of care needed though. If you have a dog with special needs, an elderly dog that has trouble holding urination for example or a female in heat, I can board as long as you provide adequate dog diapers and/or pads to sustain for changes within at least every 4 hours. I will only agree to board special needs dogs (or cats) or females in heat when I am available throughout most of the full day to make sure I can provide them with the appropriate attention and needed increased care. At this time that would only be for short duration boards, such as a long weekend stay. (This will be the same as for a puppy and so please plan to book similarly as a puppy rate.) For young kittens - I feel they get left out more, but this is a great time to have them socialize and get used to boarding, other people and experiences more right from the beginning. They also need a bit more time/attention and I am happy to help out with kitten early care too! FOR X-LARGE DOGS: If your dog is over 100 pounds, I love them too! I am happy to care for them, but at this time I can not board them since we live in a small space. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ [***Please note that 20% of the service costs go to Rover for coverage for possible emergency vet needs that occur during a Rover booking based on a new onset injury, such as another dog attack, that run greater than $250 deductible (up to $25,000) based on vet needs directly related to that incident as long as received within 30 days. This may include vet needs of another pet involved, if your pet is the aggressor for instance in a circumstance that leads to the other pet’s injury. It is also for any needed assistance via sustaining an ongoing support contact for supporting pet sitters to provide your pets with the best care. They also help cover potential house incidents or issues to the pet owner’s home that may occur during the Rover booking, just in case. Additional service fees are for operating of the application that allows for pairing of pet sitters and owners and maintaining its security of information etc.] ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 💵 If you are doing your very first booking on Rover, let me know so I can share the promo code to get $20.00 off! 🏘 If you are within a 5 min walk from me, I can offer the most discounts on if you do multiple dog walks or multiple drop-in visits. If you are not within a short commute from me I will not be able to offer any consistent ongoing care on a regular basis, but I may be able to offer occasional back-up or urgent needs requests, depending on my schedule that day/s.
A typical day
I love taking dogs on walks, playing with them and ensuring they get lots of stimulating activities and sniffs in. There are many great trails near us - Rock Creek Park is right next to us! And if you have been working on walks with your cat - I am happy to help out with that too! I am happy to help take care of many different kinds of pets, besides dogs and cats (even ones without paws). I am happy to help work on/incorporate any current trainings you may be working on with your pet.
Availability
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ AVAILABILITY: 🦮🐈‍⬛ Drop In Visits + Dog Walks Currently full for recurring weekly walks but with some flexibility for random or intermittent additional requests depending on the day and timeframe needed. 🏡 Boarding or House Sitting: I am available for boarding or within owner home pet sitting of variable duration based on request and schedule. (Please be aware that I only have both listed as available until I receive a request and then will need to confirm for only one at a time, so will be updating availability at that time accordingly.) Pets that are able to be alone for at least 5-6 hours a day at one time would work best for longer duration boarding or house sitting, but if it is for short duration a long weekend needed, then usually I can sometimes work that out to be shorter durations time alone (will discuss). For Boarding drop off and pick ups: Weekdays — mid-late afternoons to evenings work best Weekends are usually more flexible and variable so just ask and we can coordinate.
