Stay At Home Dog Mom on the Beach
Pet care experience
Growing up my go to fun fact about myself has always been "I grew up with a dog that had no eyes". In 2004 we rescued a 2 year old Basset Hound from the shelter named Leroy. When he was 6 years old, he quickly developed glaucoma in both of his eyes and needed emergency surgery to have them removed. I spent weeks sleeping on the couch next to Leroy in his cone, and soon enough he was healed and ready to take on this new adventure with blindness. I have extensive experience working with and creating a safe environment for blind dogs. Leroy has since passed on at age 12 after living a very full life despite his blindness. Fast forward to 2015, I adopted my current dog Berkeley at 2 months old. He grew up in a college environment living with 8 girls in one house so he can be somewhat protective over females. Outside of my college classes and working part time jobs, I made an effort to ensure Berkeley was properly trained and well-behaved. I trained him on the basics as a puppy, so he was able to test out of the level 1 beginners class. Berkeley went on to complete both the level 2 intermediate and level 3 advanced classes. After his training, we completed a test with an AKC evaluator and went on to become certified under the American Kennel Club as a "Canine Good Citizen". Berkeley is now 7 years old, but always gets mistaken for a puppy. He has anxiety around kids, water, and getting his nails trimmed, but he loves playing with other dogs and frequents dog parks. He especially loves playing with small dogs and puppies. He is very energetic, but especially gentle with smaller dogs. Berkeley is somewhat of a mix between a cattle dog and a boxer, so he does have some herding tendencies around children. He loves to run around on the dog beach in front of our apartment and enjoys taking long walks down to the trails near Pacifica Pier. In my professional life before moving to California, I worked at an ad agency under a well-known dog food brand. I spent a majority of my time localizing the company's website and marketing campaigns across the globe. I worked closely with vets and pet experts to launch educational articles on dog care, tips and tricks, training, and more. I then moved on to work under a global pet pharmaceutical company that manufactured things like flea and tick treatments, heartworm prevention, etc. Under the same company, I was also part of the team that launched a telehealth app for veterinary offices and pet parents. A large part of marketing within the animal health sector focuses on pet health education, so I worked closely with vets, dog influencers, and teams of scientists. Overall, I have a fairly unique set of skills when it comes to pet care. Throughout my experience, I have gone on to give advice to pet parents navigating their way through dog blindness and helped others with the basic training of their new puppies. With my professional background, I've learned so much more than the average dog mom surrounding pet health. Berkeley and I would love to have your dog over and would absolutely treat them as one of our own. We can't wait to meet you!
Reviews
Megan is an amazing dog sitter! She watched our sometimes fearful and weary dog for 10 days and provided us daily photos and updates. Issy was really well taken care of with daily walks and play time. I’m pretty sure her dog helped Issy become more confident too. We couldn’t be happier with choosing Megan as Issy’s care taker! Thank you so much!
Megan goes above and beyond! We got daily lengthy updates about our dog along with picture dumps. She took our dog for multiple long walks and our dog got plenty of playtime with her dog. She only takes one dog at a time and that lets her give so much attention to the dogs staying with her. I almost don’t want to write this review so she doesn’t get super busy and hard to book :)
Megan is exactly the type of person you want taking care of your dog -- super experienced and clearly a dog lover herself! I was fully confident leaving our pup in her hands and appreciated her regular updates + photos/videos. Note Megan's apartment is on the smaller side, so it might not be best for very large or rambunctious dogs (ours is a puppy so she's a bit clumsy and excitable) but for us it was still a great fit because our dog loves the beach and we knew Megan would take her there to play! Either way would highly recommend Megan to anyone in need.
Our puppy had the best time. Came home happy and tired. Signs of a great puppy sitter. Got some great pictures and updates. Will definitely use Megan again.

I have a fenced in deck that overlooks the ocean at our 1-bedroom apartment. My dog Berkeley enjoys people watching from the couch or laying out in the sun on the deck. We live directly across the street from the beach so Berkeley likes to say hi to every single dog that walks by during the day. The surrounding area around our deck is where most dogs come to do their business on walks. Berkeley has most recently been preferring to do his business in the sand. Just across the street we usually take the trail down the cliffs to the only off-leash dog beach in Pacifica. The beach is cut off from any roads or cars, so the dogs are totally safe to run around. I know every pet parent has their own preferences, so I'm totally flexible and willing to accommodate as best I can. Berkeley is allowed on furniture and sleeps on the bed with me, but if your dog is more comfortable on a dog bed or in a crate, please just let me know. I know leaving your dog can be nerve wracking, so I'd be more than happy to send frequent updates, pictures, and videos throughout your time away. Just let me know how often you'd prefer because I am more than willing to keep in constant contact. When I went out of town, I made my boyfriend send pictures of Berkeley at least 3 times a day, so no judgement at all!

Availability
Since moving to California in October of 2022 for my boyfriend's job, I have been working freelance jobs part-time so I have plenty of time for dog walks on the beach. Berkeley has become the most spoiled dog ever because my world currently revolves around him.
