Lifetime animal lover

Pet care experience

I've taken care of animals since I was a kid, including 5 years working at a wildlife rescue! My husband and I have a dog (Ellie) and two cats (Artemis and Diana) of our own, and I frequently look after friends' pets while they travel and have made friends with tons of the neighborhood dogs through meeting at different parks while out with our Ellie. I've spent time puppy-sitting (including waking up every 2 hours for pee-breaks while crate training), and I have experience giving oral and topical medicine to both dogs and cats and bottle feeding kittens. I've also spent time looking after senior dogs and cats (including giving them medication, special baths, and taking things extra slow for their comfort). I get along really well with most animals, even those that need a little time and patience to warm up to you! I love getting to know what animals love best - whether that's playtime, snuggles, or just spending some time exploring the neighborhood together. I recently left a corporate job and am working part-time as I finish up applying to go back to graduate school for Occupational Therapy. My schedule is pretty flexible all around - including midday walks or visits, in addition to morning and evening time. I'm excited to spend more time with folks' furry friends! I'm happy to follow any routines your pet(s) are familiar with when walking, sitting, or dropping in on them. For all animals I'm a stickler about checking that there's fresh, clean water before I leave (even if I'm just doing a drop-in). For cats, I like to keep the litterbox clean, even if they aren't in a playful or snuggly mood and for dogs I'll make sure we get some good sniffs, exercise, and snuggles every visit.

Meg was absolutely fantastic! She was very communicative about her arrival time and everything she did when taking care of Keyleth. Keyleth loves being around people, and Meg took the time to play with her and give lots of pets. We will definitely ask Meg to watch her again!

Meg has walked my 3 little dogs several times -- she is attentive, punctual, and kind. My little pack can be a handful, but she ensures everyone gets attention & love and is safe on walks in our busy DC neighborhood. I appreciate her and will continue to re-book her for walks!

Information Meg W. would like to know about your pet

Let me know what your dog likes and doesn't like - is your dog typically reactive or timid around other dogs on leash? Does she love tug-of-war, but hate fetch? Anything you can tell me about what your dog likes and doesn't will help make sure we have the best time we can together!

A typical day

I love exploring the city on foot with dogs - in my own neighborhood that means spending lots of times between the different big parks (Lincoln Park and Garfield Park, especially) as well as meandering through neighborhoods and side streets. When we have more time, I love to take dogs to some of DC's hidden gems - the Anacostia river walk, Teddy Roosevelt Island, and more!
