We hired Meagan to house sit because our elderly dog is very anxious and can no longer travel. We needed someone to simply spend time with him. He is used to having someone home with him all day/night. We informed her that he doesn’t like walks, doesn’t care to play outside, he just wants to cuddle on the couch/bed. We included our streaming login info to help accommodate that. We let her know that he eats poorly when we are gone and may need hand fed, or the food dumped out of the bowl sometimes works. We also asked her to water our plants. Friday we received a picture and update. Saturday, the first full day away, we received a text from our neighbor that Meagan had been there for a short time. When checking our security cameras, she had in fact been gone the majority of the day. I text her to reiterate our expectations of needing someone who would spend the majority of their time with our dog, not drop in potty breaks. She was very receptive and apologetic, stating it was a busy day and she would communicate better going forward. She communicated great on Sunday and then during the week it went downhill. I had to ask how he was doing and for pictures, and the time spent there became less and less. By Saturday she was gone again from 8:30am and only returned for 16 minutes to let him out. It was at that time that I made different arrangements for our dog from 12 hours away and asked Meagan to not return. If she had prior commitments then we should have been made aware so we could find a better fit for everyone involved. I will say that the kitchen was cleaner than how we left it and she emptied the trash from the bathrooms. The plants had also been watered. The open water bottle full of cigarette butts on our back patio was found by our 3 year old, so that was gross.

Meagan did a great job caring for our dog, cat and house while we were away for a week. She checked in regularly to let us know how things were going and asked questions if she wasn’t sure about something. The house was clean, mail taken care of, plants watered, and litter box clean. Will use her again if need someone and she is available.
