My family has had pet dogs since I was a little girl, so I grew up around dogs. We started with a Labrador Retriever, later had a Miniature Dachshund, and my parents now have two Yorkshire Terriers. I moved to Austin for college in 2013, but my parents usually bring the Yorkies with them when they come to visit. Additionally, I have spent a lot of time helping friends with their dogs (dog walks/taking them for a run, bringing the dogs to the park, feeding, dog-sitting, even taking one to the vet when the owner was unable to get off work). In the past, I spent a good amount of time with a Catahoula Boxer mix to help my friend out while his job kept him busy. I now have two Australian Shepherds of my own, and I have worked with a local rescue organization as a foster while the rescue works to find forever homes for these sweet pups. Basically, I have experience with all kinds of dogs (lots of breeds and small to large). Additionally, I have a huge love for fitness and exercise, so I love being outdoors with dogs (hikes, park excursions, walks, etc.).
