Pet care experience

** currently only providing cat care and dog walks. No boarding or daycare.** I am a crazy dog lady. I love our dogs and often dogsit for extended periods of time for friends, family, and neighbors. I utilize strictly positive reinforcement with dogs and believe that dogs need affection, exercise, and lots of time to sniff. I’ve cared for high energy puppies like labs and goldens, senior dogs with mobility and sensory disabilities, dogs with strict allergy requirements, and dogs recovering from major surgeries. I am well-versed in therapeutic activities for dogs recovering from knee surgery. I have cared for dogs with skin challenges requiring an intensive approach to care including the administration of medicated baths, injections, ointments, pills, sprays, etc. I’ve participated in several dog training programs and am well-versed in socialization best practices, trail etiquette, and desensitization techniques. I keep up to date through books, websites, and frequent contact with our vet, our trainer, and the owner of the doggy daycare we took our Lola to for years. I work from home so the pups are never alone for long. We have a fenced yard and often take walks to Hutchinson Playfield, Kubota Gardens, Dead Horse Canyon, and Chinook Beach Park. Bottom line: I am committed to the health, wellbeing, and happiness of all dogs. I have a kiddo and a couple of dogs of my own. Happy to take on regular walks if it works with our schedules or to provide an occasional walk. I am currently only offering dog walks or cat care. When walking, I prefer dogs to be on a harness for safety reasons. I am happy to feed and provide medication and other forms of enrichment or affection.

Meadow has been amazing! She went above and beyond taking care of our kitty, Bijli, and also helped us manage our house while we were gone. Would definitely recommend!

Information Meadow J. would like to know about your pet

History of dog, particularly any tendencies when engaging with other dogs, children, or people in general. For the safety and well-being of my dogs and all of our visitors, I do require that your dogs be vaccinated. Of particular importance to me is a Parvo vaccination and a Bordetella (kennel cough) vaccination. We attempt to ensure a sanitary environment and try to mop and vacuum daily as well as wipe paws when the pups come in. We also wash food and water bowls daily and bedding 1 - 2 times per week. I strongly prefer that your dog have a harness for walks. Collars are great for indoors, identification and such, but for the safety of your dog, a harness is more difficult to slip out of and, if your dog pulls on walks, is safer for their neck. If you don’t have one, but want to know more, I have a few I recommend. Just ask. Finally, because we allow pets on our furniture and in carpeted areas of our house, I do ask that your dog be relatively clean (read: please no stinky dogs). For the comfort of your pet and to protect our wood floors, please make sure that your dog's nails are trimmed. I do offer bathing services for an additional fee.

A typical day

I love to take dogs for hikes, swimming, to visit stores like Home Depot, car rides, neighborhood walks and to play fetch. For neighborhood walks, I believe enrichment is important. Some dogs cover a lot of area in a walk and some dogs want to sniff everything and take twenty minutes to go around the block. Both provide important mental and/or physical exercise for your dog. I adjust to their needs and preferences.
