It was through having my own large, intact active dog that I realized how difficult it was to find a pet sitter who could provide my pet the activity he needed and provide me peace of mind. While I no longer have my dog, I have continued the same lifestyle and recognize I can give my love and attention to other pets while providing peace of mind to the owners. I pride myself on continued communication with owners and daily checkins, because I know how important it is to know your pet is well loved and cared for. More than that, I recognize that a fenced backyard is not enough and dogs should have morning and evening hikes through nature for both physical and mental stimulation. I recognize that as a fur parent, you may have particular parenting styles for your pet. I am flexible with working and communicating with you to create the most stable and secure environment that your pets needs.

McKennan house/dog sat for us.
I was passing through town and had an event where I couldn't bring my dogs. McKennan was responsive to my initial inquiry and all subsequent messages with fast replies. She was very friendly and provided updates with photos and was honest about my boy who was a bit nervous and standoffish (he's often like that so I knew she was giving an honest update without sugarcoating). I felt like my pets were safe and happy. If I was in the area again I would absolutely use her services again.

McKennan is awesome! Our pup felt right at home with her, and it was clear in all of the photo updates that we received that she was relaxed, comfy, and having a great time. McKennan is really intuitive about dogs’ needs, and even though our pup’s very first stay with her was for several nights, we knew from the get-go that she would be in good hands.

My home is dog and puppy proofed and because I work from home, I have constant supervision. My office overlooked the fenced backyard where pups can play and chase squirrels or just sit in the sun. Dogs have free run of the home and are able to be sleep on couches or beds, or a crate if that’s what makes your fur baby most comfortable.

The most important information to know about a dog ahead of time is their typical routine. When do they go on walks, what is their eating routine? In addition, it is important for me to know and understand their commands and typical behaviors. Are there any situations that make them anxious and what are the best ways to redirect their attention? Besides the dogs, it is also important for me to know and understand the owner's needs and expectations. While I like to provide routine updates, are there particular pieces of information owners would like me to report on? What are the owner's expectations for a typical day for their fur baby? I will cater to your needs to make sure you have peace of mind while your pet is under my care.
A typical day
I belive that dogs should be getting mental and physical stimulation through two walks a day in nature. Typical trails I frequent include Taylor Mountain, Doyle Dog Park, Spring Lake, and Laguna Trails. Depending on the time of year and temperature, I also enjoy taking dogs for swims at Riverfront Regional park, Yuri Creek, sunset beach and Dillon Beach. Walking locations are based off of communication with owners what they are comfortable with.

I work from home making it easy to dedicate time and attention to fur babies. I am an active person who spends most of my mornings and afternoons outdoors hiking and running even when I don’t have a dog I am taking care of!
