I Can't Wait to Meet Your Cat!
Pet care experience
Hi there, thank you for considering me to watch your cat or dog while you're away. My name is McKenna and I am an experienced sitter located in NYC. I travel to most boroughs and even over to Jersey City/Hoboken (that's how much I love caring for my clients). I've been an animal lover my entire life which has led me to adopting my own two cats from rescue organizations that I have worked with and volunteered for. In my time as a volunteer I handled adoptions for a local cat rescue group, choosing well matched homes for all sorts of furry personalities, and ran their fostering organization where I was able to provide coaching to foster families for adult cats, kittens, and even neonatals. When I'm not volunteering, or working my day job, I am running all over the city taking care of cats and dogs that have become like family to me. I know them, their quirks, favorite foods, snack preferences- it's such a joy for me. But I know for the parent of a furry baby it's not always fun leaving your companion so I provide a lot of support for you too- pictures, updates, videos- to give you peace of mind that your baby is being treated like one of my own. I have experience with small and medium size dogs of all ages, all cats and kittens, and am extremely comfortable providing regular medical care to pets that require regular injections, fluids, oral or topical medication. Personality quirks are no problem to me either, my own sweet cat was feral when adopted and I've spend a lot of time and patience working with her. She is remarkably attuned to cat behavior and is knowledgeable about feline healthcare issues and challenges. McKenna is responsive and responsible, thorough in her briefings and debriefings with you as a cat owner, and will send you photos of your cats so you can keep tabs on them while you're away. She has cared for my two DSHs several times over the past year and each experience has been excellent. Her dedication to cat wellbeing extends to meaningful contributions she makes to local adoption and rescue organizations. I recommend her highly!
I was thoroughly impressed with mckennas compassion and care when it comes to animals. Both of my cats and my dog absolutely adored her and fell in love immediately. She meticulously cared for each animal with extensive personal care. You can tell she is at home with four-legged friends The cats immediately gravitated toward her. Even my more cautious cat Snuffles was very comfortable with her! My dog Rosie was happily panting when she came back from the walk. She even cried when McKenna left! I highly recommend McKenna for cats and dogs. All three of my pets absolutely adored her and I have asked her to be my regular cat-sitter and dog-walker.

Before I watch any animal I would prefer to meet them and you, but if that's not possible we will thoroughly go over any feeding instructions, litter/bathroom instructions, favorite toys, allergies, medical conditions, and medication (if necessary). I will make sure to have an emergency number and vet contact before you leave town, just in case. We can also take some time for me to answer any questions you might have about my experience and make sure we are both 100% comfortable before booking.
A typical day
A typical visit goes something like this: I will start my drop in visit by greeting your pet (if they are comfortable and "out"). If not, I'll head to the food dish and start feeding according to the details you've provided me. I'll freshen the water and clean whatever dishes have been left out from previous feedings. If there is an automatic feeder, I will take this time to refill it. From there, I will usually sit down on the floor with a treat or two, or grab some toys to start engaging the animal. I understand that not all pets warm up easily, and that's okay, we will move at a pace that is comfortable for them. All together, we will likely spend 45-60 minutes together.
