Pet care experience
I’ve grown up taking care of and training family pets since I was 10 years old. Since then, I have been the go to person for multiple friends who have dog-sitting needs, especially dogs with reactive or anxious temperament who need really thoughtful care. I’m familiar with dog body language, as well as ways to work with anxious pups to set them up for success. I’ve trained various dogs to do everything from sit and lay down to leave it with someone’s favorite toy. I would love to be a resource for pups who need a familiar individual to be successful or any older cuddly dogs who enjoy just being near a person.

They are so loving, kind and responsible with Dom that they are the only person I would trust with him. Mckaylia is a fantastic and responsible dog companion. I have seen Mckaylia care for many different dogs, including my rescue pup. They are loving and positive with all dogs, and adapt to each dog's individual needs. With my high-anxiety and high energy dog, they took big walks and played long games of fetch. I have also seen them curl up with a dog that prefers quiet time.
McKaylia has been a caring dog sitter for our family for several years. They watched our 65 pound American Staffordshire terrier and later our 35 pound collie mix. McKaylia was great with the dogs, reliable, and could handle their two very different personalities. They handled all their walking and exercise needs. Our dog loves it when McKaylia comes to visit. We would highly recommend McKaylia as a dog sitter or walker!

I’m happy to accommodate the various needs of your dog in your home and on walks. If watching a dog overnight I would of course, treat them like my own and make sure to include them in my daily activities like walking at the beach or going to the park for some fetch or just to hangout. On walks I’m very conscientious of other dogs in the vicinity and will be sure to ask you about all of your dog’s triggers and needs around being out in the world

I think it’s important to know your dog’s temperament, activity levels, need for mental stimulation as well as any physical impairments they might be dealing with. I especially want to know your dogs triggers so that we can successfully navigate the outside world together.
A typical day
I’m a big fan of both mental and physical stimulation. Expect walks on the beach or trails near Bellingham, games, training, and even some socialization if you’re comfortable. Of course I’m always happy to hangout and snuggle as well.

Availability
I’m currently not working and looking to make some money doing something I enjoy while I go back to school for a few years. I have a very open schedule and would love to establish some recurring appointments with dogs in the area.
