Pet care experience
Hi there! I am a staff professional at the local university who loves pets! After spending a few years watching over family, peers’, and my professors’ pets in grad school, I discovered how much I enjoyed caring for and spending time with pets! Aren’t they the best?! I’ve had pets all my life but I have been providing professional pet care for 7 years, and have taken care of a variety of animals! I’ve worked with all kinds of dog breeds, cats, fish, rabbits, rodents, and even insects. I enjoy spending time with animals and love to give my attention to the animals in my care, whether it’s playing with them or giving some belly rubs. :) I have experience in house sitting, dog walking, dog sitting, playing, cleaning, and giving medication. I also like to ensure that all of my clients feel like their animal loved ones are taken cared of by sending funny/cute pictures of our shenanigans! Mayra is amazing!
We had a wonderful experience with Mayra and highly recommend her. She took exceptional care of our two dogs. From the first meet and greet, through the stay itself she was professional, with excellent communication and attention to detail. She provided regular updates and took great care to ensure my dogs were comfortable, safe and happy. It’s clear how much enjoys the dogs and how committed she is to their well being. This was our first experience with Rover and first experience having someone we didn’t know personally stay in our home with our dogs. We felt completely at ease, and knowing the dogs and house were being well cared for, allowed us to truly be present and fully enjoy our vacation. Mayra will be the first person we call the next time we need care for our dogs
Mayra is a fantastic companion for your pet! She was flexible, accommodating and friendly - she was even willing to do a prelim visit to meet and get familiar with our stranger-wary dog. On her drop-in visit days she was communicative about timing and gave thorough updates. Couldn't have asked for a better experience!

At your home, I am happy to learn the ropes of how to take care of your pet. I love getting to know the animals in my care and want to make sure they feel safe and happy as much as possible while their favorite humans are away. I like to spend time with them, play with them, and make sure they know I am a friend! My goal is for the animals in my care to enjoy themselves as much as possible and to have a near seamless experience while their family is away. I am comfortable with crating, leashing, basic training, and reading animal behavior for distress.

I generally like to know of any medical issues, best time to let them out, feed, and walk them. I also like to know of any stressors or stimuli that I might encounter while the dog is in my care. If there is any training or no-no areas, these are all things I'd love to know to make sure your pet's daily life is not disrupted and consistent. I don’t have any breed preferences and love pets of all kinds!
A typical day
I love going to a local park and walking in nature! A good field or backyard is also ideal for a fisbee or ball throwing, which are all activities I enjoy doing with a dog! I also love snuggles, giving scritches, belly rubs, and general loving so they feel happy and secure! I’m not opposed to lots of pets and lounging around if that’s more preferable. :)

Availability
I work full-time generally Monday through Friday from 9 AM - 4 PM, with flexibility during that time to check on any pets. For example, I could check in in the AM, at lunch time, and after work. I work 15 minutes from my house so it is relatively easy for me to stop by if I need to. I am generally more available after 5 PM on the weekdays. On the weekends, I am generally free and flexible for any needs.
