*Only accepting requests for house sitting and drop in-visits at this time!* Hi I'm Maya! I love animals of all shapes and kinds and have lots of experience working with them! I recently graduated from UCSD and am now working a hybrid job. The reason I joined Rover is because I absolutely love being around animals and it has been very hard being at school away from my Boston Terrier, Bella, who stays with my parents in Iowa. It would be a great experience to play with and care for a pet, even if it is not my own. With over 9 years of experience volunteering at an animal shelter, interning at a wildlife rehabilitation facility, having two dogs of my own, and fostering shelter cats, I am confident in my ability to handle any type of pet. From the leash-biters to excited-jumpers to shy or stubborn, I have seen and dealt with them all! Volunteering at the shelter gave me experience working with a variety of dogs and cats; all different breeds, behavioral issues, walking issues etc. I am very enthusiastic which can be matched perfectly with a playful pet. I am also very observant, patient, and conscientious whenever caring for an animal, to make sure that all their needs are being met. There are plenty of nearby grassy areas and the beach to walk and play, which I would be happy to take your pet (if allowed). Maya did a great job with our two dogs! This was our first time using Rover and Maya made sure we got updates daily with tons of cute pictures and videos. The pups seemed to have a great time!

We are so happy that we hired Maya to watch our girl, Sadie! She was recovering from surgery and had a pretty elaborate regimen of medicine. We were so stressed to leave her but after a couple of days, we saw what good care Sadie was in and we were able to relax. I will definitely be hiring Maya for our future cat care needs!

I give all pups my full, undivided attention! I keep them engaged with play time, toys, scratches, and walks. I usually do at least one walk in the morning, one in the evening, and one before bed, but can adjust as needed. I am extremely respectful of others’ spaces and will leave it in better condition than I found it!

Do they bark a lot? (Aside from initial excitement or when outside around distractions) How long can they be left alone for? Any anxiety? Do they have any issues with potty training/how often do they need potty breaks? Any behavioral issues? (Timid, not good around other dogs/kids, chasing or jumping, etc.) Any aggression issues? I absolutely love Boston Terriers, Frenchies and similar breeds. Mainly because I was raised with Boston’s and I think they’re the cutest thing in the world. That being said, I would be happy caring for any type of breed and give it the best care possible.
A typical day
I have lots of energy and would give your pet tons of attention. I’d love to play tug-of-war or fetch, or even just run around with them. I would also spoil them with scratches, pets, and as much love as they need! I would also enjoy a trip to a nearby trail to hike, or the beach to play in the water. If play-time gets a little dirty, I would have no problem giving your pet a bath.

Availability
My job is hybrid/appointment based. When I am not at an appointment, I can work from your home! Appointments can come up last minute, but it is very rare that I need to be out all day. To be safe, it is best that your pet is okay being alone for 5/6 hours. On days where I have a lot of free time I love taking pups out on fun adventures, like hikes, beach, fiesta island, dog parks, etc!
