Responsible, Experienced and Safe pair of hands
Pet care experience
Hey, I’m Matt. You’ve probably seen Winston in my profile photo my 4 year old Akita. He’s my best bud and I trained him from a puppy. I have extensive experience volunteering at dogs rescue, taking care of my own pets and helping friends and family look after and train their pets. Whilst dogs are my preference I have experience with cats too. I’m a mostly retired managing director after running my own homegrown healthcare business throughout my 20’s and I say this to offer reassurance as to my level of responsibility. I’m a friendly, safe and reliable pair of hands for your pets and home. I currently build custom campervans from time to time, travel with my fiancé and beloved Akita. I can house sit but also offer my own accommodation if you’d prefer your pets space to be their own of and evening. I’m super flexible and looking for opportunities to keep me fulfilled and busy.
Reviews
Needed a dog sitter to look after our litte dog Biscuit while we got married. Biscuit was looked after very well and he came back very happy. Definitely use again. 5 star!!
Matt picked up our Saluki x, Karen, from our home and asked relevant questions relating to her care. I can't fault the care and attention that was given to Karen, during her stay with Matt. He knew I was nervous at leaving her as she was only 4 months old and has had a bad start in life. He sent regular photos, videos and written updates as to what Karen had been doing while we were away. The only negative might have been that Karen might not remember us, she'd had such a good time! Matt, as promised, assessed her training needs and, with our permission, addressed some of those needs - she is now much calmer. Matt's friend even gave us some advice regarding diet for Karen so we'll take that advice onboard. I would have no hesitation in having Matt look after Karen in future, and in recommending him to others.
Excellent doggy day care from Matt and his wife for our dog Nova. Brilliant surroundings and their dog, Winston, was great company for Nova. Would definitely recommend and would use again next time we're in the area.
Our dogs had a great stay with Matthew. He was very accomodating, friendly and welcoming. Communication was excellent and the dogs had a lot of space to run around and enjoy themselves. Overall would definitely recommend and will definitely be booking again.

Mr Winston is a great boy (my Akita) but he also has a high prey drive and requires a keen eye and a reassuring protector to make sure he doesn’t wander off snooting for rabbits. This lends well to my attention and responsibility with other pets to ensure I’m meeting obligations to keep your pet happy and safe. My own home is haven for dogs in the day with a large separate paddock with 6ft fences, a side garden which is dog proof and a large driveway also dog proof with no neighbours your dog could spend the day in safe isolation if required

Information Matthew T. would like to know about your pet
I’d like to know their routine, what drives them and their general level of training. Any particular notes about reactivity to other dogs, sights or sounds. Their diet, your expectations around our time together to make sure we can meet and exceed everybody’s expectations for our time together
A typical day
Depending on the pets abilities, fitness and mental stimulation requirements. We can either follow a routine to keep them happy, reassured and stable or we can mix in some trips to woodlands, more challenging hikes like grey mares tail. We can also just relax at home with some treat driven mental stimulation exercises with toys and puzzles to keep their mind ticking. In the first instance it’s about building trust and calm, we can build fun and enrichment on that.

I work around my own schedule building campervans, modifying other peoples vans and travelling to help friends. I can work pet care around my commitments to make sure people enjoy a reliable service.
