Is it time for a walk?

Pet care experience

First, it was cats. I had cats underfoot in my home from childhood well into adulthood. That translates into years of experience caring for cats, and approximately one metric ton of kitty litter scooped. Then I became an adopted dog father when I moved in with my partner and their dog, who we’ll call “Lady.” I was a remote worker, so I got to spend just about all day, every day with Lady until her passing in 2021 at the age of 12. Since then, I’ve kept dogs and cats in my life by caring for the pets of my fellow community members as if they were my very own.

Matt came to our house for a meet & greet and had a nice gentle approach when meeting our dog. We were very happy with Matt’s stay with Rosie, and he kept us informed with photos. etc. Trust him with our dog and our house. Very attentive and thorough. Our first time using Rover and would hire him again.

It was wonderful having Matthew stay here with Cinder. He was a great communicator (lots of adorable pictures that made my day), totally respectful of the house, and took great care of Cinder. So considerate and I came home to a house that was just as I left it, happy cat included!

Matt was a fantastic sitter for our dog Finn. Finn can be a bit anxious in new situations but he bonded with Matt right away. Matt was also great at communication, asking good questions about his care and texting us photos and brief updates every day. It was a very positive experience.

My pup had a great time @ Matthew’s, despite staying during a heat wave! He took him on early morning and late afternoon walks to stay cool, and sent pictures every day.

Safety, trust & environment

Before our first engagement, I will meet with you to learn about things like: * Your ground rules for me when interacting with your pets, or anything else in/on your property. * If applicable, how to safely enter and exit your home and/or property. * Your preferred walk routes, dog parks, and other activities involving outdoor exercise. * Day-to-day care. Meal times, potty routine, etc. We all know that pets can have an uncanny sense of time. It helps me to have a general idea of what your pet might be expecting, and when.

Information Matthew S. would like to know about your pet

* What is your dog's energy level? * What is your dog's disposition toward strange humans and strange dogs? * Are there any health concerns I should be aware of? * Are there any behavioral quirks I should be aware of? * Commands or rules that I should reinforce?

A typical day

* Route, length of walk, other visit details are negotiable and will be tailored to your dog’s needs. * I will pick up after your dog, and I will supply bags. * I may use treats to help build trust and keep walks on track, but I won’t administer anything to your dog without express permission.
