Pet care experience
My name is Matthew P. and I am a new transplant to the Boston area, originally from the Outer Banks of North Carolina. I moved to the area in August of 2022 and currently work for the Department of Public Health as a Microbiologist. I grew up in a family of avid pet lovers and have experience taking care of a range of animals from cats and dogs to rabbits and birds with even the occasional reptile thrown in the mix. Currently, I have three cats and one dog who live back with my husband in upstate NY, where he is stationed with the Army. I miss my fur-babies tremendously, however, and am hoping Rover will be able to help me spread my love for animals until I’m able to have my three pets here with me in Boston. Matthew has always been great with animals. My husband and I have two dogs and Matthew loves on both of them like they are his own. He lets them lick all over his face and jump in his lap. He even refers to himself as "Uncle Matt". He has offered to take care of our dogs when we are out of town as well. My dogs are like my children so if I leave them with you, then you must be trustworthy and reliable!
Matthew has taken care of my collie on numerous occasions. My dog can be somewhat of a handful at times, especially in her old age, but Matthew did a great job with her. It was always comforting to know my dog was in such wonderful hands while I was away - I would recommend him to anyone!
Matthew is a caring, considerate, and passionate individual that carries over to his attention to the four-legged friend. Dogs are man's best friend and Matthew understands the magnitude of watching our best friend. Our two dogs, Brooklyn and Dallas, become overwhelmed with uncontrollable excitement when Matthew walks in our doors. His love and attention to detail is what makes him the perfect caretaker of our furry friends. He also has extensive experience totaling up to over 20 years of working with dogs and with multiple breeds of all ages. His resume makes him the perfect candidate for a dog sitter.
Matthew is a very close friend of my, he is a very sweet and loving guy. Not to mention he is very good with animals. He has been a loving uncle to my three year old husky Zeda. Zeda knows when he is coming to visit and as soon as he walks in the door she immediately runs to give him kisses. They really enjoy singing songs together and just hanging out. Matthew would be perfect at this job it is right down his alley, and he would treat any animal as if it were his own!

Pet owners know their pets best in my opinion so my pet care revolves around following your directions to the most minute detail. Whether it involves specific crating care or leashing instructions for our daily walks, I never want to put your pet in a situation where they won’t succeed.

Any form of aggression your pet may have either to other animals or people along with specific medications your pet may need to be given regularly. I also ask owners to be upfront should their pet have high anxiety as I am the owner of a easily stressed out dog myself and know that care must be adapted for this sometimes.
A typical day
For social dogs, a trip to the park or dog park is always a must (given the owner’s permission of course). However for the more shy dogs (which mine happens to be), I find walks in open public spaces to work well. Giving your pet positive stimuli throughout my care benefits them and helps build their bond with me.

Availability
I work full time during the day from 7 am until 3 pm and am available for evenings and weekends. While my work schedule is fairly rigid during the day, outside of work hours I have tons of flexibility to take care of your pet.
