Pet care experience
I have lived with dogs all my life and loved every moment with them! I owned my childhood dog for 13 years (a border collie): She was my best friend. My family also has had Labs and other big dogs (our current lab/rottie mix is 110 pounds!), small dogs (our current one is around 8 pounds) and medium dogs (the Border collie was about 45 pounds). I am a graduate from UNM, with a B.S. in Biology. As a Christian and an Eagle Scout, I firmly believe in treating animals well and will do my best to fulfill your dog's needs (and wants!). With my experience with dogs (ours and others), my personal convictions and my playful attitude, I would be a good choice to watch your dog(s). Why I love dog sitting From the age 0-6, we had our family dog Jelly, who was a black lab and loved playing with kids. Then my older sister got a yellow lab, who had a bit of temper but was a good companion. Finally, when I was 9, I received my own dog, Tornado. She was a border collie and the best companion a boy could have at his side. My little sister then got a dog (a little terrier mix) and so there was always at least 3 dogs in the house during my teenage years. Currently, there is a Chihuahua in my house; the friendliest, goofiest dog you can imagine. And my mom back home has a 115 black lab. So I am familiar and comfortable with many different types of dogs!

Matthew did GREAT with our two big dogs (~80 lbs each). The one is very loveable and took to Matthew right away while the other takes some time to get to know you but Matthew was very relaxed and let our dog come to him and by the end of the stay I think both dogs were having fun with Matthew. We got updates from Matthew daily as well as pictures. In addition, Matthew watered our plants and brought our paper in so it wouldn't look like we were gone. Our electricity went out, unbeknownst to Matthew, and our swamp cooler had turned off and he was able to tell us that it was hot and we were able to get the issue fixed so our dogs wouldn't have to be in a hot house. Our water also had some leakage issues and again he notified us and he was able to turn off the auto timer and just water manually so that we didn't waste water while we were gone. I would highly recommend Matthew and hope to use his services again in the future because he gave us great peace of mind which allowed us to enjoy our vacation knowing our four-legged kids were well taken care of!

Mathew took great care of our dogs. He sent us daily pictures of how they were doing which helped us relax and focus on my sons college graduation. I highly recommend him and I will book with him again.
Matthew did an excellent job taking care of my older dog. He is very professional, knowledgeable, and clearly cares a lot about animals. He sent me frequent updates with pictures, which put me at ease knowing my pup was happy and being well taken care of. I would not hesitate to recommend Matthew as a sitter for your dog!

How do they act when their owners are away? This helps me approach the dog in a way most comfortable for them.
A typical day
Time I'll spend with your dog I try to spend as much time as possible. It also depends on the dog. I watched 4 labs who loved walking, playing, and getting attention. I spent the entire weekend with them. Then there are dogs who are grateful for food, but are just as happy to see me go. I will adjust to your dog's style and give them what they need! Extra house-sitting services Yes, with the exception of sitting cats, as I am highly allergic.
