Experienced local dog walker

Pet care experience

Hi my name is Matt and I love to spend my extra time walking dogs! I've cared for dogs nearly 13 years now, and really enjoy making sure the dog is well cared for and receives ample exercise! I look forward to making sure your dog is treated like my own!

There is no one I would trust more with my dog than Matthew. He is a kind, caring, responsible and communicative individual who will make sure all your furry friend's needs are met. His love for any and all dogs is unwavering and he takes the time to get to know each one. Any dog would be lucky to gain a friend like Matthew.

Safety, trust & environment

I always make sure that the client's house is locked at all times. The dog never leaves without a harness and leash. Updates are provided to the owner every step of the way if they are ok with this. I am willing to follow with any other specific safety requests by each owner!

Information Matthew E. would like to know about your pet

Especially the first time I walk a dog, it is important for me to know how the dog typically greets someone they have never met before. Please note that it will not scare me away if you say your 100+ lb dog likes to jump on new people as soon as I walk in out of excitement; rather, this is just something that I like to be mentally prepared for so that we can both stay safe. I also think it's important for me to know your preference of harness/collar (and any special instructions for putting them on, if applicable) and which leash you would like me to use (if applicable). Further, while I do my best to ensure that your dog will not interact with other dogs (unless otherwise instructed by you), it is also important to know how your dog reacts when they see other dogs. This is to keep everyone safe in the event that another unleashed dog runs up to your dog or similar event occurs. Otherwise, anything else you deem important for me to know is a priority. I am seasoned in reading and executing thorough instructions for any dog, and I am happy to do the same for yours.

A typical day

As a runner myself, my priority is to make sure that the dogs get enough exercise when they are out with me! I typically do this through running on-leash on the grass with them or in a fenced-in park if they are the only dog there and the owner is ok with this. Otherwise, I like to explore neighborhoods on my walks with the dogs and make sure to keep them off dark/hot pavement that can burn their paws!
