Pet-loving online law student
Pet care experience
I have had and cared for dogs my entire life, and they have ranged from a 15 pound Shi Tzu to a 130 pound St. Bernard. I have crate trained two dogs personally (the St. Bernard and a St. Bernard-poodle mix). I love spending time with pets, and I always want to make sure they’re as comfortable and happy as possible. As a law student, I currently don’t have any pets of my own as I know I’ll likely be working 50+ hours a week after graduation, but I’d love the opportunity to help care for any while I have the time!
Reviews
Matthew was accommodating to Mika's separation anxiety - I could tell she was instantly comfortable with him!
Helped me and my dog out in a pinch on a holiday weekend. Excellent service!
Matthew was great! He sent updates with how my pup was eating and sleeping with photos. My dog never eats the first day with someone new and she ate first night!
Matthew did a great job with my dog. He is a big strong dog who is kind of a wild card and he was no problem for Matthew, He was very good and handled our dog with care. He sent lots of photos and updates during a 5 day boarding. 10/10 recommend.

Safety, trust & environment
When in another’s home, I would only do as instructed. I respect others’ belongings and privacy, and I would not do anything to breach the trust someone would be putting on me to enter their home. The Florida Bar has assessed my character and has granted me Character & Fitness clearance after a very extensive background check (this qualifies me to be a member of the Florida Bar after I graduate law school). I would provide the best care possible without crossing any lines. I am also available to care for pets in my own home. I do live in a one-bedroom apartment, but my complex has a fenced in dog park that I am able to utilize as well as plenty of grassy areas. My apartment is approximately 1,000 square feet, so there is plenty of room to run around inside. I have always allowed pets on my furniture and bed, so that would be my policy unless instructed otherwise. I can match a pets energy level, so I would take an energetic dog to the park, and I would let a couch potato lounge.

Information Matthew D. would like to know about your pet
I have experience caring for both small and large breeds, so I have no strong breed preferences. Some information I would like to have is whether or not the pets are potty trained, how they are with other pets, and whether or not they have any dietary restrictions. Any information regarding medications and feeding schedules is also a must. I will request any additional information I feel is necessary on a case-by-case basis.
A typical day
In addition to the fenced-in dog park in my apartment complex, I live near Dog Wood, a very large dog park with walking trails and a man-made, filtered pond for swimming and playing. I would be willing to take pets to that park if requested. Other than that, typical care will include walks, playtime, and let’s of pets!

Availability
All of my classes are currently online, so I can be home at all times. I have one 90 minute class on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and three classes on Mondays and Wednesdays with breaks in between. The only limitation they would put on my care is that I wouldn’t be able to take any pets outside during a class, but I would make sure they go out immediately before, in between, and immediately after as needed.
