PhD in Being a Terrific Dog-Dad!

Pet care experience

I’m a PhD student in archaeology, and you might say that I would really “dig” taking care of your dog! Ha! I’m a proud dog-dad to Bowie, my 4 year old terrier mix, and have lived with or taken care of dogs for my entire life. Bowie is fully command and behavior trained, and gets along great with all types of dogs. If you’re looking for a fun and safe playmate for your dog during a home-stay, look no further. As a PhD student, my schedule is highly flexible and so I can provide individualized attention to you and your pooch. I look forward to bringing my knowledge, experience, and expertise in handling different breeds, sizes, ages, and temperaments of dogs to providing you with an attentive, first rate Rover experience!

So much more than a dog walker! Matt is so great with Roxanna, who has anxiety issues. She loves it when he comes. He caters the appointment to what she wants to do. In addition to walking her, if she wants to play, they play, if not, he is happy to sit on the sofa and pet her. And my cat likes him as well! Great energy!

Matt really helped us out when we were in a pinch. My boyfriend and I were in town visiting and had a day trip planned. Our hotel did not allow us to leave the dog in the room unattended so I jumped on Rover at 7pm on a Thursday to see if someone could watch Noodle at 9am the next day! Matt came to the rescue and within 30 minutes we were confirmed for a full day dog sit - problem solved. Matt has a great fenced in house and a dog of his own, Bowie. Bowie and Noodle got along well after a high energy introduction. Matt and his fiancé took Noodle on two walks and send me lots of pictures and updates. Highly recommend contacting Matt for all of your doggy daycare needs!

Matt was wonderful with our dog and took great care of her (she had lots of walks and play time) and was a great communicator with us as well. I highly recommend and will use him next time we’re away for sure.

Matt is absolutely great! Bowie is pretty great too ;) I had to quickly find alternative plans for my dog during the day and I am so happy that Matt was available. My dog has been anxious because of construction happening in my apartment building. Matt was very understanding and knew exactly how to help my dog feel comfortable in his home. He is very responsive and flexible with times, which is so helpful. I definitely recommend Matt for any of your doggie needs!

My fenced-in back yard is great for a number of dog-friendly activities: catch, fetch, running, and bird feeder watching. My terrier mix, Bowie, has free reign of the yard and so I keep it clean and free of debris. I also keep an eye out for any plants that might not be pet-safe. For quick walks in Providence, I enjoy walking Bowie around the Mount Hope neighborhood, and for longer trips we head along Hope Street to Lippett Park and Blackstone Blvd.
