Pet care experience
My wife and I have taken care of 2 dogs that we owned during the last 5 years. Previously we only thought of ourselves as cat people, however once we got out first dog we understood the intense bond that you develop when caring for a dog! Today we care for our dog, as well as 3 cats, all of whom were rescued from various local organizations. Previously we both had cats while we were younger and together have many years of experience in all aspects of pet care, from day to day feeding, to groomings such as nail clipping and bathing, we do it al ourselves. We also often watch our relatives dogs when they travel, sometimes having them for a week or more. We have never had any issues with our small maltie-poo dog and visitors pets, while our cats are fairly indifferent to dogs.

I have fully fenced yard where my own dog often spends hours outside during the warmer months relaxing in the sun! I live in a fairly quiet neighborhood with lots of big grassy parks nearby, many of which I take my own dog to daily (note these are not dog parks filled with 100's of dogs, just quiet local parks). I also care for 3 rescue cats, although they are all indoor cats, they do love going outside in the fenced yard for some fresh air when it's not winter. In my home I have an endless supply of toys for small dogs and cats. My 3 cats are all incredibly friendly and greatly enjoy chasing each other around the home all day. If your cat is a bit shy, I have 3 bedrooms with doors where they can have some quiet alone time if required.

Please let us know about any special needs or behaviours that your dog may have. We are extremely accomodating as long we know what to expect. Also please let us know whether or not your dog is generally friendly with other dogs, and also your own comfort level with your pet meeting others. We live in an area where many people have dogs and have never had any issues with random meetings, however we fully respect any owners preference for their own pet.
A typical day
As both my wife and I are very active people we especially enjoy taking dogs for long walks to the park where they can have more space and freedom. We love getting our dog excited and playing chase at the park, or throwing a ball or toy for some good catch exercise. We also live near many great forest trails and thoroughly enjoy going on like trail walks through the forest with dogs. All of the trails we go to are NCC trails owned and maintained by the city so there is little worry about any wild animals, or especially long grass where ticks could be. If your dog enjoys water we would love to have them run trough our local splash pad on a hot day, the neighborhood kids seem to think its hilarious watching the dogs gets soaked!

Availability
I am currently working from home with a fairly flexible schedule that permits me to typically be available to drop in when requested. My hours are 9-5pm but I am also able to drop by before work, or during my lunch hour for feedings or walks.
